Yes my sim was an entertainer and maxed out piano, violin and guitar. She quit the career and still maintained her fsme very easily just by publishing songs. She is currently getting fame by dating another famous sim and mastering photography. She regularly wins awards mostly 1 but on a few occasions up to 3. She also earned a star on the walk of fame. I think awards are based on how productive and prolific your sim is not their career progress. (Or even having a career)
I also played Johnny Zest who did social media. Played guitar. Comedy (of course) and he took up writing too. He gained lots of awards in the one evening because he won for different categories.
Dont stay in the career if you don't like the hours. Live stream, do fan events and perform in public to maintain your fame.
