I'm torn with the emotion system. In general I like the concept of it, it's nice to know how my sims are feeling but the implementation is just bad. Emotions are over powering personality and that tends to make the sims all feel the same, they lack individuality. I really wish they could find a way to balance it so we could have emotions but also personalities that can shine through at the same time.
The emotions themselves are a mess without mods, they change far to often and most of the time they don't make sense for the current situations that are going on in the game. Sadness from the loss of a loved one should never be overpowered by happiness over having nice decorations, it's just wrong. I've been using Meaningful Stories in my game for as long as I can remember now, I've come to rely on it for my gameplay and it has become the only mod that I will never play my game without.
