I have 5 "founding families"

Sims (Now Sims-Hawkins)
Sweet
Brink
Benton (now Meshrams)
Putnam (NPC I just really liked her lol)

I try to use the first letter of the parents to inspire the name of the children. For example my gay couple Colin Sweet and Jessie Caron (NPC) adopted two toddlers who were girls and now I have Camile Sweet and Journey Sweet.

I believe my longest was 6.

Currently I am at gen 4 and my goal for the next year is to reach generation 10. I am a rotational player. I start with a single sim and then I rotate between the sim's kids and the kids' kids and so on (just like you! :) ). So it will take a lot of time to get there but I believe in myself :)

Wow! 9 generations is a lot!!! I never got that far, although many of my families are the same I started with back in 2014.

I play rotation, and I play all houses in all worlds, so it takes me about a month to play them all 1 simday. I ajge everyone up one year when a round is completed, so it averagely takes me a full human year to age everyone up 10-12 sim years. In other words, the babies born back in 2014 are now about 55 years old. Those I created as adults have passed (except a handful elders who are still around. I must have 4th generation born in some families, but mostly just 3 gens.

6 is the longest but thats all I planned for, I just started a new one with some old favorite sims of mine from when we only had three packs. Starting them in uni we will see how long that lasts with a uni family tradition.

If I just played one family, I'd be a lot farther along. I played nearly all of TS2 with one family. I think I was on the really long life span, it took a long time to age up. In terms of actually playing just one household, that was the longest. The family wasn't based on me, it was random but I guess that I liked them. They were very much a functional and happy family. I played TS3 at about 3 different intervals, maybe more than that. I think I tended to start up new saves a lot.

I guess I could try to add that TS2 family back into my rotation sometime, like my own pre-mades.

200 sims?!? How do you manage that?

Thanks for asking, yes, I have nearly 200 sims that I created in the game. Essentially, the various worlds are mostly populated with sims that I created. It started as a single family legacy though and because I play generationally, it really is a form of a legacy. I started playing some of the other households so that I'd be familiar with them as I followed the extended family members around as they branched off. I liked getting to experience different households.

How do I manage it? I play with aging on the household only and then I switch between the houses whenever I want to. I use the long setting for seasons so that seasons transition gradually. All of these different houses interact within the save. This means that a lot of the "townies" are my own. It is getting more fun as it goes along. I don't have a strict formula because I switch households based on life events when there is a good transition point. I usually say, "I will play this house until X happens, then maybe a day or two afterward."

I basically remember the various plots for all of them. Whenever I shift to a new household, I'll quickly look over the panels for any information that I need to be reminded about from leaving off. At a certain point, I might make the less interesting households unplayable and focus on a few or bring in some new sims to interact with my favorite households in the rotation. Everyone is not related to each other but there are multi-generational families which is why I relate to legacy play.

At this point, it is easier than it sounds. I run into the various sims whenever a household visits community lots or they may see others walking past.

I have started my second attempt at the 100 Baby Challenge. Its been more succesful than the first time (which I quit after the third baby got me crazy), and I'm on the 7th baby right now. I also had plans, like... I started playing in @Hestia Sunset Valley custom save with MCCC Story Progression and I'm planning on adding other sims from other moments of the timeline.
- Once Malcolm Landgraab turned into a teen I cheated to make him into Johnny Zest, his mother disinherited him because he wants to become a comedian instead of taking up the family business, so he changed his name to Johnny, adopted his father's bachelor surname (Zest) , and Nancy had a second child which is Sims 4's Malcolm.
- Once that Malcolm turned into a teen and Johnny turned into an YA I have added all Sims from Oasis Springs: the Roomies, the Caliente/Lothario, and a few gallery sims like Holly Vinedal to add more new faces to my save (in the case of Holly, I played with Johnny Zest once and he ended up marrying her and having a baby girl named Lemon Zest, so I wanted that to happen again hehe).
- After 7 babies Mortimer and Bella Goth married autonomously in my game, then I cheated for them to have Cassandra. Once she turned into a kid I added a bunch of Sims 1 characters, from the actual families we could play in the game, to townies, npcs and some downloadable families we had back in the day at the Maxis official website.
- My plans are to add Willow Creek sims (+ extra gallery sims) once Cassandra turns into a teen. When she turns into a Young Adult I'll try to have her marry Don, and add all the other sims from Pleasantview + Veronaville and Strangetown. Maybe the others, but i don't know how many sims I'll have in my game, and I don't know if my laptop can handle them haha... Also, once Malcolm turns into an elder I'll add his gallery version married to Mom and with Dudley and Mimi as well as all the Bustin Out premade sims. Also, I'm planning on turning my family into a legacy challenge once the 100th baby is born and i finish the challenge, but as I said I don't know if I'll be able to reach this achievement.
I'm thinking about sharing my challenge (+ the townies autonomous lives/decisions) on the forum, but I'm not sure. What you guys think?

Mine is a little bit different, besides the changes i mentioned I also used MCCC to copy the genetics/face structure/body from the Landgraabs/Goths/etc to the ones in @Hestia s save, since I was planning to add other sims from Sims 4 later and I never played with story progression on. I want to see what the babies look like haha
And, thanks about the "Zest" surname thing, I had this theorie since Sims 4 released, I think I mentioned it a couple of times. Its one of those things you think with youself that you really wanted to be true. Maybe in Sims 5 we could see Johnny and Malcolm older and their family trees complete with Nancy's parents and Geoffrey's parents.

I'm only on generation 3 of my current one, but I've been rotating between each of the kids.

I usually do that but this time I am going to let the younger children live their own lives with the aid of MCCC story progression. My rule is that they get any money inherited from the parent who moved in to the legacy home. My generation 1 spouse came with 28000 so with that and the sale of other game generated things such as school projects, childhood artwork and thematically unsuitable Winterfest gifts, the first 2 "spares" have just about scraped together enough money for their own houses. Sadly the generation 2 spouse didn't come with any money because she lived with kids from previous relationships and I forgot to transfer some money to her, so the generation 3 extra kid(s) may struggle when their turn comes!
