Gameplay Discussion: What does Knitting in The Sims mean to YOU?

I'd really like knitting to be a sort of social activity, where you can knit together with other sims to build relationships and gain the knitting skill faster. It'd be nice if we had a dedicated object for it too, like a craft table or a knitting basket that you can place chairs around.
