Gardeners, do you build greenhouses?

I like having both outdoor gardens and greenhouses, depending on how much room my gardener sims’ lots have.

I just recently learned from some simmers in these forums about being able to make a building for the plants to grow in, and I appreciate being able to make greenhouses. I don’t want to constantly worry about the seasons and weather, especially since I rotate lots a lot, and forget what season a family may be in, lol.

Yeah I'm on console and honestly doubt there would be many mods I would use otherwise. I like game as it is with its challenges and creative solutions so modding those out of the game or using cheat codes aren't really my thing.

But I'm glad they work for you. Mod'ers need a target base to enjoy their hard work too.

While the game is still in the Live cycle (i.e. receiving updates), I try to avoid mods which do overrides of a large number of game assets. They are too prone to needing updates frequently. But yah, the mod that makes that change plus changes the time they bear fruit from 5 am to 11 am is on the list of one's I'll probably add to my game once TS4 reaches the end of it's lifespan from a development standpoint.

I'll still graft though, just so I don't have as many plants.

I always have a green house. I want my plants to grow all year around. It doesn't matter if I have an outdoor garden. I just love having plants all year around.

It matters. The final plant will have the same exact seasonal (and growth) statistics of the one you graft ONTO. So you take the cutting from the one you don't want, and graft it onto the one you do. If you graft sage onto apple, you get a tree that only grows in fall. If you graft apple onto sage, you get a bush which grows year round.

Yeah, I had a rotational player suggest to me one time that when I'm ready to start playing multiple families, to play a full year with one then a full year with the other having aging off on played households so that it's technically like playing the same year just playing it again with a new family.

That would solve the seasons issue.

Okay that's what I was asking. The base plant plays host to the grafted plant. So the season it grows in ungraftedbis the only season it will grow in. This is good to know!

I agree with you but my problem was trying to get a reasonable sized greenhouse. @Stormkeep has the perfect solution for this!

Sometimes I build Greenhouses, but most of the time I actually shield my lot with a clear jumbo roof up in the air, almost like a big cloud. ;)
