Gather Water with Bucket?

I would have to assume it's been there all along. After all, they can't gather water with their hands! Nice screen capture!

I think it was added with Eco Lifestyle. James Turner used it a lot initially in his rags to redevelopment Let’s Play of EL expansion pack.

I don't have Eco Lifestyle though. I just did some more testing. The only other household I have living off the grid is in Windenberg. They don't use a bucket when gathering water from the beach. It's winter for them, but I'll try a new test game to check other locations. Maybe it has to do with water you can wade into or swim in--like ponds or the big lake in HoB or the ocean in Sulani. I realized that this is the first time I've asked a sim to gather water in a pond or swimming water.

i recall it was added in update around eco time and i was hyped but ive never seen the option so probably tied to off grid lot type which i also havent had chance to really play yet

An update around Eco Lifestyle release would make sense--a bucket animation for base game probably. :)

I just did some tests. And yes, "gather water" is only available for off the grid households. The bucket is used only in swimmable or wadable bodies of water, and sims change into swimwear if the water is swimmable. Besides the ocean in Sulani, the bucket appears with ponds/lakes.

Thanks for the insights, guys. You helped answer my question about buckets. :D I did a few more tests ... because I was curious. ;) I found that off the grid sims could use a bucket to gather water in a couple of spots in Magnolia Promenade. And off grid sims can gather water in several other worlds, but not with a bucket--that I've seen anyway.
