It's still a bit of a hassle, but I'd just remove gender from fashion choice entirely (that is, remove the masculine tag) because there's a fair amount of children's clothing that appears on both lists - without opening the game and checking, I think the bulk of children's clothing (and toddlers) tagged masculine are also tagged feminine, so simply removing the masculine tag from filters should be enough.
Now, I play on PC, where it's a simple matter to close out tags (just click on the x), so I don't know if this is significantly faster than changing preferences every time on console.
