Buying/Selling:
>> Selling Science Stuff: If you want to go to Sixam, but don't want to reach the top of the science career or build a spaceship for each family you want to send - do either of those things once, then open a retail store and set for sale either the upgraded wormhole creator or the spaceship with wormhole installed. Other sims can then buy those and they will be fully functioning when they take them home.

>> These are the things I've found that can't be sold in your store:
Rugs
Fishbowls (and live fish) ((I have a correction for this comment - if you use the buydebug cheat (bb.showhiddenobjects) you can sell fish on shelves. Once you've bought said fish, it can be transferred to a fishbowl and will be alive!))
Planters
Kitchen Counters
If you have chairs attached to a table, or something sitting on a table that's for sale, they'll go into inventory when you sell the table.

>>If you set food for sale before putting it in the lice cold retail freezer your customers can purchase things from it without you having to ring them up. It's an automatic sale and can happen even while you are ringing up other customers.

I made a bakery. I know how to put everything I make up for sell. I even figured out how to put food/drinks into the lice freezer but what types of things would I put on the shelf thing (can't remember the name right now)?
Anything at all - I put the collectable easter eggs on there - they sell like hotcakes!

>> If you're running a bookstore or toy store, "open" your bookcase, get the books out, and place them on counters, etc. You can then mark them "for sale". (Usually they won't bring in much, but you get perk points for the sale.) Or you can buy more expensive books through the bookcase and put those out for sale. Then put your bookcase up for sale.
Do the same for the toybox. It usually comes with 3 toys inside, but they'll disappear if you just put the toybox up for sale. Open it, and get the toys out, and put those up for sale.

>> If you want to build a book store, use the decor book piles found in buydebug. There is one for every book in-game. They simply look like decor book piles (perfect for a book store) but Sims can click on them to buy the book. :)

>> You can sell the fish for sure because I did it:) You put on the baking freezer display or the big fridge :)

>> I started to get frustrated at my sims brewing pots of tea all the time, so now I sell the cups in one of those bakery freezers. They sell for about $6 a pop and require no effort.
I wonder if you could do the same with milk or orange juice... hmm.
Update: it totally works

For you guys adding tips for the Retail career......
I was just wondering if your sim would get the FULL VALUE of whatever they wanted to sell? Say for instance -- Your sim had collected a number of the Easter Eggs. When you go to sell them (in their inventory), each egg is only worth $10. So, would your sim ALSO get $10 if they placed that item for sale?
One of my Sims just sold an egg. I have the markup at 25% and it sold for $12. I also have him selling extra geodes, frogs and statues too. The prices though on some of the bake goods that the NPC Sims pay is outrageous.

Since GTW, it is possible to build a rocket ship on a Community lot.
Adding to this - you can also build them on Retail lots! If you have someone with a high Rocket Science skill build & upgrade them, you can then set them for sale, just like anything else. Other sims will then buy them. The best part is - those bought rocket ships will still be fully functional when the sim gets home! I have a Luxury Space Vehicle Sales lot in my world :). Unfortunately, if you try to upload the Retail store to the Gallery, the spaceships revert to their unbuilt state :(
>> TIP: If you keep finding/catching cowplant berries but do not want to have one, plant it anyway. Once planted, you can then turn around and sell it again before it fully matures for 400+ simoleons instead of just the 20 simoleons for an unplanted berry.
