- I don't believe you can create a new dog or cat once you leave the initial creation screen, so you may need to adopt a pet. What you could try is creating a new family with a pet, and then transferring it using manage household. However I have never tried it.
- I created mine in CAS. I wish we had an option to buy from a dog or cat breeder in the game, as that's my preferred method to get a pet. So I'd usually add the pet in CAS and just pretend that my family went out and bought a kitten/puppy from a breeder.

@Lquinn You definitely can; I've done it before. I might have needed to use a cheat, but I know I did this. - AaronRulz786 years agoSeasoned Ace

I use MC Command Center to get into CAS. I use MCCC so much I forget it's a mod sometimes. haha - DaWaterRat6 years agoSeasoned AceSince my sims have a tendency to live in Brindelton bay and vacation in Selvadorada, I've occasionally adopted strays. Otherwise I'll usually adopt, unless I want a specific type of cat (or dog, but usually cat because they don't need to be walked and I'm a cat person) in which case I'll add them in CAS.
And I don't think you need to use a cheat. I mean, I have MCCC too, but I'm pretty sure you can add one via the household management screen without needing the cheat. - Kimmer_one6 years agoSeasoned AceI usually use the adoption for cats, but quite often the cats that are available to adopt are very similar. I mostly get grey or white cats. Sometimes I want a different color and then I just create one in CAS and pretend he/she was adopted. I'd love to adopt a stray cat but it's almost impossible to even interact with them, they just walk away.
Stray dogs are easier to adopt and I often do that with dogs, but if want a certain breed I create one in CAS. Some of the puppies that are available to adopt via phone will grow up to be completely different breed than it says on their description. I once adopted a Labrador Retriever puppy that grew up to look like a breed between a Pitbull and a pig. He was greatly loved and amazing companion to my Sim, though. :) <3 - texxx786 years agoSeasoned AceYou can add or change your household, pets included, in the household management whenever you want (no mods needed).
Anyway i always adopt pets. - rlc776 years agoSeasoned AceI do both depending on what I'm looking for at the time. I've also adopted strays and gotten some great pets that way.
