Getting back into the Sims

Hello 🖐️

It's been over a year since I've played the Sims and I've had that urge that I want to get back into it. I nearly came back when For Rent was released but after hearing how bad it was I stayed away.
I've seen a few new packs come out that I quite like the look of, Lovestruck mainly, and a few kits but I'm wondering how the game is with regards to bugs. Last time I played it just felt like it was becoming unplayable.
I want to remove all my mods and CC and really start a fresh without those and really try enjoy the game as it is. Are any of the new kits worth it? Is For Rent any better? I've not really looked into Life and Death so not sure what it brings.

I really do miss the Sims and I would love to get back into it and emmerse myself in the packs, I feel like I've barely touched the ones I have but there is a sale on so always worth seeing if any are worth it.

Many thanks 😄

  • Should you decide at some point you want to return to using mods, do make certain the mods have all been updated to accommodate the new packs. I have the latest two packs, Lovestruck and Life & Death. Haven't played too deeply with either of them, so far. But I am also knee-deep in a particular storyline, of which I write and share. Lovestruck, so far, is fun. I do play on a new gaming laptop, however. I'm not noticing some of the problems (bugs) others report.

Go ahead and jump back in. We'll put a ladder on the poolside so you can climb back out if you find the game is still too buggy for you.  I can imagine the frustration. I had an interesting, weird thing occur, recently, that was a leftover from Cottage Living. (Got that one on release, so how the bug missed me then, I'll never know.) There was a fix for it, and things have been great ever since. You may find playing vanilla suits your style of play better, who knows?  The idea is to have fun.

Love this! Thanks! I'm in the process of reinstalling the games now! I might purchase a couple of the new kits that look cute!

Let's hope I don't need that ladder too soon! Thanks everyone ☺️

yeah this time its the event. That is why i simply quit wasting time if they're gonna change the game fundamentally to a forced quests game i am not interested in that type of game that is why i played TS4 in the first place; total artistic freedom.

So forced gameplay is a definite no for me.

Thinking about Reapers Rewards which I was a big fan of, I would never probably have known how to make ambrosia without this event, it was like an extended tutorial.

  • Just the kind of thread I was looking for. I haven't played since January 2023 (according to my last save file), so I wanted a quick way to see what was happening in the game.

Based on the responses, I'll just stick to the add-ons I already have and not add anything new until I get comfortable with mods, lol. I'm back (for now) for casual play and I know a buncha bugs will kill the momentum.

    Welcome back too!

I'm doing the same, though I did attempt to do a full reinstall but it seems there is a current issue with that and my PC has decided it's not responding to anything so I'm not quite back yet. But good to see where the game is at before I do.

    Enjoy the come back :)
