Give us an option to play the world without the pack features!

I would love if we could turn off all pack features and be able to play in the worlds without being forced to have back to back ailments or the phases that come with teens. Also, why can't we limit aliens to Oasis Springs and Limit Spellcasters to their world and Limit Vampires to their world.

*Turning of Balance does not stop ailments

25 years playing this game and the idea of the packs far outweigh the reality 90% of the time. At this point, I'd be willing to pay a smaller amount of money to get new worlds(empty or not). I just don't want any more features that ruin my gameplay and force me into a certain type of playstyle without having an option to play as I want to.

  • I'd like more pack feature toggles. For example I'd like to limit Spellcasters powers to Glimmerbrook, I find it immersion breaking when they arrive at festivals by broom.

I'd also love to turn off strays from Cats and Dogs. I've said this so many times, they ruin Brindleton Bay for me. I hate to see them suffering, they're almost always sick and crying.

I'd like to turn off childhood phases because sometimes they don't fit with the child's personality. Tooth loss too as it's way too frequent.

I think Ailments should be a toggle on it's own. I'm seeing loads of Townies with them but I know there's talk of them being adjusted in a patch soon 🤞. My stall holders are all sickly. It puts one off one's street food seeing it served by a person who is covered in blotches...I mean, ick no thanks! I'll buy my Sweet and Sour Pork elsewhere thanks mate and you should see someone for that rash!

But the one thing I'd really like to turn off the most is Burnout from Growing Together. It drives me up the wall! It needs to be a toggle like Self Discovery and Career Layoffs.

We need a toggle on/off option so it can be optional for those who doesn't want certain things in the game, including occults!

  • I've been wanting this for ages! Often I only want the items and world from a pack, and not the gameplay features. Since enchanted by nature I especially want to turn off ailments.

Exactly, just let me build and buy and play in the world. I don't want any of the other stuff. It ruins my gameplay.

Historically, the pack feature toggles being broken with various releases has been an issue. I'm having bleed-through again with the wants and fears. They may be fixed, but then are broken again with the next release, as if someone is pulling from the wrong SVN branch. 🤐

I totally agree about the worlds. We already only get 6-10 lots to play, and 10 is an exceptional situation. We've gotten body hair forced on us, and set as a default in the character creation! 🐻

The playable content in worlds is scarce. I wanted the vampire pack, but have the ability to turn the actual vampires off and on. I find it annoying that vampires and the conversational choices are forced on to us in every single playthrough without even visiting their world.

With the aliens, I got a mod to stop the massive number of alien abductions. One of my sims was abducted 7 times in a 5 hour gaming session. I had sterilized her, thankfully. Unless you are playing a scientist, or even if you are and do not stay on top of that, you get mass abductions. Don't know if they ever fixed that. Kidnapping someone and impregnating them is somehow funny in EA. That should be a switch to choose. It would just break though, and we'd have to mod again.

There are two types of players:

    1. Please force a story on me, because I have no imagination.
    2. Please stop forcing stuff on me constantly and let me play my sim. I have a beautiful imagination.

Need a switch for that. I saw a Sims streamer accuse people like me of being 4 year olds playing with a doll house. 🎎

I create my sim, however, and somewhere in the background, the game assigns things to that sim that are not part of the character I created, or that directly conflict with it. That is the first thing I would like to see stop. It is a life simulator, and yet it is not. A life simulator gives you more actual control over your sim.

So, now that y'all are writing this, I assume that the new nature pack has illnesses, and that EA went overboard with it, the same way they did with the mourning in Ravenwood. If you are popular, everyone you meet is your instant best friend. When they die, you need therapy and are in constant mourning. My sim was really constantly in mourning as a result. I had to mod that, too, to bring it to a reasonable level.

So, not buying the new pack now, until I ensure that there is a mod to put reigns on this, figuratively speaking. Some of us just want a more realistic and less BPD experience in the game. 🤩

  • Absolutely would love that. I would love a game where I have all the build/buy, jobs, worlds, etc. of the packs, but to able to toggle off features such as occults, ailments, and other things when I want a "realistic" game play.
