Gobsmacked and I'm Unsure What to Do

Something occurred in my game yesterday that was disturbing, to say the least.  I thought seriously about rolling back to see if things would turn out better, the way it should have turned out, but then I got to thinking. I haven't really made use of L & D, and that I should just roll with it. Then, I got miffed again. I haven't used all of the special events in the game, as of yet, but the ones I have used we're allowed to invite 15 guests. Not this one. You only get 8. Since I play large families, it was greatly disturbing to have to leave some out of the event. In fact, it's just plain wrong.

Now, I'm sitting here wondering if it was a glitch and that I really should rollback and play it over again. I hate to be so vague, but since I write up about what happens in my game, should I go with what happened I hate to give spoilers. I will mention there was a fire. Watching the person burn to death when my active Sims were busy trying to extinguish them, was hard. I do know such things can and do, sadly, happen in RL. My own husband lost two of his uncles to house fires when they were little. He never knew them. But it scars a family all the same. Not only were the attempts fruitless, Grimmie turned a deaf ear to the pleas.

So, if it were you, what would you do? Rollback and replay, or just move forward? I really could use a bit of advice on this. Please, and thank you, in advance.

  • I asked a similar sort of question recently when a sim died from dart poisoning and left his only son an orphan at the teen stage. But it doesn't matter what replies I got, I still had to decide for myself as only I could tell how I really felt about it within my own game. On that occasion I decided to go with it and he remained dead, but sometimes I regret that decision.

  • I don't really avoid death in my game sometimes I even invite him over 🖤

I do however prefer to choose when my sims time is up so if they do pass away at bad time I would probably try to resurrect via gameplay :)

  • The way it happened and all the lack of concern of the other Sims leads me to believe this was a glitch.  I've only had such glitches happen a couple of times before this. Erik died and the camera didn't immediately **bleep** over to where he was, for one.  Another time, Erik died by freezing to death, even after he got inside! That was really odd.

I kept the save (I do a Save As with each gaming session) and rolled back to the day prior the Thanksgiving, as it turned out. (Couldn't do that again if I tried.) This time no fire, no loss of a Sim. Things played out as one would hope they would.

I rolled back with the idea that if it wasn't a glitch, after all, I would pick right back up with the other save, I had already set up the funeral.

As it stands, things played out just fine. I used parts of the update I'd already written to merge with the new stuff. I am happy with how the update worked out.
