I think the Sims Team showed their hand with My First Pet Stuff. People have wanted to believe since Day 1 that this game would improve and it was merely a lack of all the expansion pack content making it feel weak, but now we've seen this isn't a steady climb upwards, but rather the moment EA sold a lot of copies of an EP, they thought it was time to cash out on the perceived consumer satisfaction by stabbing consumers in the back with a blatant cash grab. This shows to me that the staff is just watching like hawks and waiting for any opportunity to do less work for more money. Constant vigilance is needed with a company like this, and I frankly don't see why they're worth the time of day anymore.
I fully believe that while each game seeks to improve over the last, the goal of the Sims 4 is merely to improve the income-to-expense ratio of the game. It's not an improvement for the consumers, it's an improvement for EA. They're trying to figure out how to spend $5,000 making a new pack for $25,000 profit instead of spending $10,000 making a pack for $35,000 profit. If their interests don't seem to be in the game or improving the consumer experience, why should I bother...?
I haven't played in quite some time, and I haven't actually purchased a new pack in almost a year now. I liked posting here in hopes of getting people to think more critically and getting both the devs to aim higher while the fans expect more, but quite frankly, I feel like even this is a waste of time now. The staff said "please continue providing feedback, we're listening!" and we see absolutely no evidence of this. Since 2016, every single year one of the Gurus has said "you would not BELIEVE the kind of content we have coming!" or the like and acting like it's a big deal, yet look behind us and you'll find a barren desert with little to do. There's no way those comments from 2016 were all referring to 2018 and beyond. It's a testament to how either A.) The Gurus have terrible standards or B.) The Gurus will gladly lie to our faces to promote sales. Either way, it's a bleak-looking future.
I think it's time for people to come to terms with the fact that this team, in my opinion, simply doesn't care about this game. For the love of God, Sims team...Show me you care and stop telling me you do, because frankly I'm sick of the empty promises. They've released a total of 24 packs, and only 2 of those have actually been well-received. No other Sims game in the history of the franchise has had this many botched pack releases. This game is the uncontested king of disappointment within this franchise.
Just abandon this franchise and let it die. It's suffered enough. If they want it to continue, make them put their money where their mouth is and put some actual effort into making it.
