Gravestone questions for any who might know

My save had a bad crash yesterday and I was able to save my sims and upload them to the gallery (I'd made it to generation 4 with generation 5 on the way. The problem is, I was just barely able to save the family (or what's left alive of them) and made the mistake of thinking I could pop the tombstones in a personal inventory so that when they got loaded into the new save they'd still have the ancestors tombstones on the lot. They came with all their skills, but no inventory.

I got gravestones back but they are debug ones. My question is, does anyone know a way to put names on the grave markers from debug? I understand that my ghosts will be gone, but at least there'd be some indication that those sims once lived. I just can't seem to find a way to add names for those lost, but not forgotten sims.

Just to be clear, the save is unrecoverable. Had my brother-in-law (who's a tech guy) come try to help and sadly, I can't just go back and get the stones.

  • I do have one idea, but it would require the MCCC mod to do so. Do you still have the living version in your library, even as young adults? You'll need the cheat turned on that allows you to create the family connection in CAS.\

If you do, then take your current sims that are still living to CAS, then add the ones you still have in your library with one of the sims. Age the ones that passed away to make the family connection. If they were elders when they died, make them elders in CAS, or whatever age they were, just get them as close to where they were in the game when they died.

Now after you are done in CAS, you will need the MCCC mod to kill off these sims who have previously died. The MCCC mod has a whole range of actual deaths where you will get the tombstone with the sim's name, and their family connection intact. I strongly recommend that you after coming out of CAS, save your game. Make sure they are not standing on the sidewalk when doing this. Some deaths will just result in the sim vanishing, but they are still in the game, and MCCC also has a way of unhiding hidden households as well. That is where sims who have died go as well. This is why I said to save because if a certain death does not result in the desired results, you can just exit to the main menu without saving, then go back into your game and try a different death. I'm already going to tell you that freezing and drowning deaths; you don't want to bother with MCCC, those deaths just result in a vanishing.
  • Thanks @LaBlue314. I think that idea will work. I just hate losing those artifacts because of a save glitch. *hugs* to you.
  • Or without the MCCC mod if you don't want script mods or whatever you can just do the same thing and make them die the way they did before or another way if you don't care, also sad to hear your legacy went a bit wrong i hate when i forget to save or the game crashes D:
  • Thank you for your advice all. :) What I did was use a mod to kill copies of the original sims in the way they originally died. Travis Scott-Fields died of overexertion as an elder (rocket woohoo), Lavender Fields died of old age, Azure Fields died of old age and Jack Glow-Fields (made by Erasers13) died of old age. Then I moved in the new/old family to the lot where they died.
