There are also rude people on twitter, actually I'd say there are proportionally MORE rude people on there who complain constantly about the sims. The people that sign up for the forums are more likely to be alumni of the series from what I've seen. And there advice is important too. Not everyone who plays the sims is a 12 year old with a twitter account.
That's exactly it, though. The forum community is a more specific group of players. Twitter reaches out to a wider and more generalized audience since it's more accessible. The polls there also get a lot more votes than any of the ones in these forums do. Overall it's a much better medium to gauge opinions.
