All I can add to this is, be careful what you wish for. I've been playing two families (that are very special to me) in rotation style. The eldest from each family will become the third family in this rotation. He's supposed to be slightly older than she. I am playing on Long, so that I have time to age each of the Sims when I choose. The teen boy in Family #1 is about two years older than his next teen brother, for instance. In reality, he was about nine months older than the girl in question. So, what do I get after playing a good couple of weeks, per family? He gets an invitation to her birthday party. She's all set to become a YA. Say, what? I started them all about the same time. How is it she reached that many days before him? I had him go just to be cordial. After all they'd already advanced their teen aged romance to "promised". (In reality, he was just sixteen and she fifteen when they married. That's not possible in this game, so I have to fudge things a bit.)
Needless to say having her age up to YA before him was off-putting. I just couldn't reconcile myself to this. (Having made so many concessions already.) I ended up starting them anew in a brand new game save. I also made quite certain before I played either household, that the length was set to Long. So, be careful what you wish for, when it comes to such "invites". Also, some of us took nearly the entire first two years before our Sims got abducted. Since this is a life-simulator (of sorts), all I can say is life isn't always fair.
