That consideration is always taken care of by putting as much food as needed in the fridge in advance and then getting a plate of food out on the table for when the toddler gets hungry and you know your caretaking sim is unable to look out for the little one, the toddler can simply take the plate of food and eat it. it typically takes 10 hours before fresh food from the fridge spoils in the open, so that is plenty of margin of error to work in from before your sim goes to sleep and when the toddler gets hungry mid-morning.
