MC Command Center has this, also... and a bunch of other options, via modules. ^^Pregnancy (duh, right? LOL) Other parts are Population, Cleaner, Dresser, and Careers. (Deaderpool added some stuff to Careers in 1.0.7)

You can choose which ones to install. It's an amazing mod!!

Holy necrobump, a thread from TS4's release month!

It's a good thing they patched in the strawberries and carrots thing for influencing the baby's gender.

For any player who searches the forums and decides to necro this old thread again in the future:
When the game released, there was no way to determine gender without a mod. It was a 50/50 chance each pregnancy. However, currently:
Strawberries and/or listening to Pop music for girls.
Carrots and/or listening to Alternative music for boys.

I specifically added the word listening because the sim needs to actively listen to that music rather than have it playing in the background.

Btw, this is the OFFICIAL way. It was added in a patch by The Sims Team. None of the other alternatives work, unless you're using a mod specifically for it.

Influence the Baby's Gender

A patch made it so that we can influence the gender of babies, so we can make the chance large that a baby girl or boy is born:

To have a baby boy: Eat carrots and listen to alternative music on the radio.
To have a baby girl: Eat strawberries and listen to pop music on the radio.
Doing both of these things during your pregnancy will increase your odds of having a boy or girl.

It worked to get a girl and I am going to try it for a boy

Actually eating carrots and listening to alternative will make a boy
Eating strawberries and listening to pop makes a girl

Try it
Tip - do this everday about 3 times everday

it actually is possible to influence the gender of the child by having your pregnant sim eat certain foods and listen to certain music genres. To increase the chances of having a boy, have your sim eat carrots and listen to alternative music. To increase the chances of having a girl,have your sims eat strawberries and listen to pop music. Hope this works for you as it did for me :>

My sim just gave birth to a baby girl.

So was wondering if anyone know how accurate this is? I got one sims alien pregnant and he ate so much carrot he could not eat anything else. He also listened to alternative on the radio a lot and still he had a girl. So I was thinking if it doesn't really work on aliens or its not that accurate in the first place as I didn't get a boy. Anyone else had this happen?/ Know how much you should eat and listen?

It is possible to INFUENCE the gender, pop and ??? For girls, and apples? And alternative for boys I've heard

Just to add into the conversation, listening to kids music for like an hour or watching kids tv for like an hour increases your chances for twins. I've done this every time I've been pregnant and I've had twins every time. Always a boy and a girl, too, but I think that's just coincidental.
