Having a Wedding Event on the same day as a Holiday?

Does anyone know how the new MWS wedding events work if you try to do them on the same day as a Holiday? I know there are issues if you try to do a normal, base game goaled-event on a Holiday.

I'm asking because I'm trying to plan a wedding ceremony and reception and the day coming up that would be perfect for it (based on weather forecast and day's off for my sims) is a freaking holiday. (And yes, I know I can just cancel or move the holiday, it is what I will do if no one tells me "it's fine, the MWS events work normally on holidays.)

I think the game just won't let you do them on Holidays, is that right?

  • Why would it not be possible to do it on a holiday? Aren't holidays themselves goaled events? Is a wedding reception much different from say harvestfest grand dinner?
  • @crocobaura, the game does not allow you to have goaled events on holidays, because the UI for goaled events and the UI for holiday traditions are the same UI element, and the UI can't be shared by two things at once. You, literally, cannot hold a base game goaled event on a holiday. It won't let you. If you try, it falls back to the non-goaled version of the event.

That's why i asked...because I figure MWS events fall into that same category, but I don't know for sure. And MWS events have no "non-goaled" version to fall back to.
  • I must say I haven't tried this, so this is news to me. Is it not possible to go on a date on love day?
  • @Crocobaura, you can go on a date on Love Day, just not as a "goaled" event. All of the base game events can be done as 'non-goaled' on holidays. My concerns is that there is no such thing as 'non-goaled' for the MWS pack events.
  • @Hearts4u, do i have to cancel the holiday to start the MWS event on that day from my phone, or could I fire one up even while the Holiday is active?

I'm asking because I'd absolutely love to actually have the wedding on the holiday, without cancelling the holiday.
  • Excellent, that is very good to know! Thank you @Hearts4u.

I was worried, one of those things where I really want to have the wedding that day, but if I had to cancel the holiday ahead of time in order to even fire it from the phone...it would be too late on the day to do it. I appreciate your responses.

One of the Sims getting married also will have her university graduation ceremony on that day, so it's going to be a really busy day. My plan is to string Graduation->Wedding Ceremony->Wedding Reception all in a row.

P.S. The sim on the far left in the red skirt/black top is very pretty. Is she one who you made, or born in game?
  • @Hearts4u, Yah, i'm worried about trying to do that much in one day, but it's the only nice weather on the calendar for the next full week, and I'd be rotating away from that household normally the following day as well.

    Wish me luck!
  • @Stormkeep Love Day dates are still goaled. It's the events from the "Plan a Social Event" menu on the phone -- parties etc. -- that can't be goaled on a holiday.
  • @mightysprite, wow, I never noticed that. Do the date goals replace the holiday ones while on the date? Or is there a way to toggle between the two?

...I actually send my sims on dates on Love Day in my game ... every love day. I just never pay attention to goals for dates in the first place, so I guess I've never noticed the goals are actually there on the Holiday.

BTW, the wedding ceremony that prompted this question originally went splendidly as did the reception after, all on the Holiday. It was a crazy busy day.
