The heatwave here in Washington State has turned our life upside down. I'm not a hot weather person, but hubby was born and raised in Miami and even he is having a hard time adjusting. Today was bad with the temp easily soaring to 115 for the second time since this all began. And 115 on this side of the state doesn't happen very often, and rarely for more than a day. The creek on our property is nearly dried up so we have been setting out anything that will hold water everywhere so the wildlife will have easy access to fresh drinking water. We moved into our motorhome with our two kitties because it is a lot easier, and cheaper, to stay cool as the motorhome is parked in a converted barn in the shade. Not much of a view, but at least we're not sweltering in the heat. We're watering our flower beds and hanging baskets twice a day, but our lawn is already brown and dried up. We're on a well, and need to conserve water in case we don't see some measurable rain soon so the lawn will have to wait. Our 4th of July guests have all cancelled their plans to come help us celebrate, and it was an occasion we had been looking forward to for months which makes us a bit sad. We haven't seen a few of them since before the pandemic and were looking forward to catching up on how things have been going. We're eating salads and sandwiches, and usually have a pitcher of margaritas in the fridge for those times when a glass of water just doesn't hit the spot. And our two kitties have perfected their impersonations of throw rugs, usually under a ceiling mounted AC vent. Life is an adventure so we might as well try to enjoy every minute. Now if you'll excuse me, I hear a margarita calling my name. B)
