I think the OP needs to work out what the life stages mean for them. By definition (in the UK and most other places), 18 and 19 year olds are both Teens and Young Adults. For me the Teen category is generally 13 to 16 and Young Adults are 18+, so students just starting university (for me) are Young Adults. I've recently started a Sim at University and used young looking Young Adult Sims as the students. I also use a height slider to help differentiation the Teens from Young Adults.
And I know about the life stages just I want to make a younger adult that can have a job. I've played the Sims 4 for a year now lol.
