HELP Restaurant Problems?

I have seen several threads wherein people have complaints about what's going on in restaurants. Up until after yesterday's patch, I wasn't having these incidents. But it was Love Day in my game, and I had Erik invite Kayleigh out on a date. They get to the restaurant of choice, but instead of her going first to sit at the table, (as it's always worked in my game) he found the table. I had to click on it several times to get her to 'sit together'. She wouldn't stay planted, however. It was horribly disrupted, they ended up with a not-so-great date as a result. These two generally have Legendary dates, but not yesterday. He even grabbed his food and sat down at another table (one of those ones we got with Snowy Escape) which surprised me. Normally at restaurants we get a notice that's not their table. But he was able to place his plate there and then slide underneath it. She finally joined him, grabbing her own plate, in passing, but instead of across from him, she took a seat at the other end of the table. What is up with that? Has anyone else had anything close to this going on since the patch dropped? Just thought I would check before I pull my mods again.

Please, and thank you, in advance.

The only times I have had any trouble has been at one particular restaurant. It's the Villa Bovine which came in the Dining Out pack. I don't know if it's just coincidence, but my Sims seem to never have a good experience there.

Hm, I've had that pack since release and yet the name eludes me. I know we got the Chez Llama. Perhaps, I missed it somehow?

Haha! Well I could be wrong, but I thought it came with the pack. But perhaps I've just had it a long time. Just saying that sometimes certain restaurant builds seem cursed.
  • Carl's game overhaul mod, public release, now includes all of his Dine Out fixes and one of the things it does is actually tell you when slots on tables are blocked causing failure to be able to deliver food. It gives this message for any tables that visitors are at, even unplayed sims at the restaurant. And it kick starts chef's so they don't need to be reset to get them into the kitchen.

Bienchen also has several restaurant mods which fix all the various issues, including a new one that kick starts the chefs as well.

So if you are willing to use mods, either of those modders has the solutions. Bienchen's are modular (you would just use the ones that you want) while Carl's is a all-in-one solution that also does other things as well. Pick your poison.

I just finished 2 sim weeks where I had my played sims eat every single meal at restaurants because I was testing out how Bienchen's new mod works and I can say that my restaurants worked 100% of the time, with not a single issue, for that entire 2 sim weeks. My sims were in and out, fully fed, in under 2 sim hours even (except when I had them hang around for Karaoke in my restaurants that offer that). It was glorious.

I know, it's really horrible. 100% of restaurant visit I need to reset the chef in order for him to actually step in the restaurant and do what he is payed for.
The guests won't stay seated because they, for some unknown reason, have the urge to put away the dishes. But that is what the waiters are for.
Why aren't they doing their job? Why do people eat out? So they don't have to cook and clean up afterwards, no?
Other thing is sims always cancel eating their meal once they finished their drink. I hate wasting food and money. Unfortunatelly, DO is really broken.

Are your restaurants owned by played sims, or just been around as not-owned community lots for a while? If the latter, I think it might help if a sim owns the place. He won't need to be played often, but in my game I had trouble with staff that was corrected when I played the restaurant actively for a day or so. It had errors due to one employee culled or dead or something like that. with an active owner it is easy to stop by to check that everything is ok.
  • It shouldn't make a difference if it's unowned when it comes to employees, @Simmerville. The game will autofill the employee slots regardless of who the owning household hired when you visit a restaurant with sims who are not the owners.
It does give preference to the ones actually hired, but if any of them die, those spots will get filled automatically by .. I guess you could call them "temp" employees, because they won't show as hired if you return to the owning household.
