Another thing that can be done to keep clothes accurate for the time period is to use MCCC, save the outfits that fit, and make sure to select the option "only use saved outfits" so all randomly generated sims will be limited the outfits you've hand-picked. Unfortunately glasses will still show up, but you can blacklist all the glasses one-by-one. This is very time-consuming, but I found it to be essential for immersion when I played the first few eras of the "History Challenge."
