holiday and planning a party

My sims birthday coincidentally fell on Easter. I had them "plan a party" and by the time dinner was over, the guests were leaving before the birthday sim blew out the candles. Literally just as I put the cake on the table with the candles, I got the popups saying "thanks, I had a nice time" and just left before the big event. Is there a way to keep the company over longer than the game has them?

I think i saw somewhere a mod for making parties longer but i can't remember where, im sorry.
  • You could have food cooked in advance and set out on tables and when your guests arrive just bring the cake and blow out the candles, the guests could eat whatever they like or can during the party. Or you could celebrate separately Easter and the birthday thing.
  • You actually had a party event on a holiday? I didn't think the game allowed that. I tried once when my sims birthday was on Winterfest and I couldn't arrange the party cos it wouldn't let me do it.

Are you wanting a goaled party? If that is not a requirement, you could use the GT club system and have a gathering and then your guests would stay until you decided to end it.
  • I find one of the bonuses for sims 4 is the parties have a timer and i love it, i always hated throwing parties because there would come over and touch the things in my house like computer and go to the gym etc. But Ive had that a couple times too, they dont stay until i want to do the cake so now i do the cake first and then celebrate and eat and party etc. then i kick them out and have to tidy up the house

UGH!! I keep forgetting about the club system. This solves so many problems. lol. THANKS! I'll remember next time. Well, it wasn't a goal event dinner party but it still let me do it.
  • Here's the longer party mod:

You can have party events on holidays, just not the goaled ones. I actually like to throw parties on holidays because I really don't like the goaled events. Even when there's no holiday and you just choose to not have a goaled event, the game will still treat it as one in which you didn't do any of the goals and tells you how bad your party was, which doesn't happen on holidays :D
  • Ah, it must have been cos I was trying to do a goaled party that it didn't let me.

I know what you mean, I'm always forgetting the club system too. I don't use it anywhere near as much as I ought to. I remember it when I'm not playing and then it goes out my head when I load up my game lol.
