That's a pretty devastating one.
Looks like I have my work cut out for me to make the best of this pack.
It might also be that you need to really work at your career rather than just trying it out after a few hours practice as the game-changers have been forced to do, so some Simmers might find their gameplay enjoyment doing that. He might also not be very good at decorating!
He might not use it but I've noticed a few of the game-changers using the MCCC mod and wonder if that needs a bit of updating.
I'll be buying it for the objects mainly but like the idea of it. I don't like to rush gameplay, love looking around others' houses, so taking things slowly, finding likes and dislikes will suit me.
I don't think it has nothing to do with him not being good at decorating or mccc. The clients liked a piece of ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Carl left in the decorated room, the clients liked rooms that had nothing to do with what was asked for, besides the liked color... this was to test that clients don't acknowledge anything beside the color (and maybe the furniture style...?). Clients ask for a kitchen, you give them a rock climbing room, and because it uses the liked color, they loved it... even the career isn't well made... and is the modular furniture enough to hold this price tag...? I don't think so, but that's just my opinion...
He said he was out to test and break the game if possible so I expect other Simmers might take a gentler route to finding out about the game than him. An easy job to start with one Sim?
Imo it doesn't matter what's the game changer approach as long as it clearly shows that sims are not even acknowlodging what kind of room they are asked to renovate, or if the objects make sense or not.
Carl's review is what we call in my job a proof by absurd. He tried to use the absurd to prove that you basically can do anything as long as the right color (and maybe furniture style) is used. Because it was absurd, the game should have refuted it. But it didn't...
It was his choice to go that route though. The tasks suggest what room he was supposed to make and he ignored it. Personally I think the likes/dislikes are enough guidance for the job along with the original assignment. I don't need the game to watch over me when it comes to the room purpose.
He chose that route to prove that we can ignore the client asks and still succed in the career. It's posible. But it shouldn't be if the career was well made.
Ofc you can stick to the guidelines. For what i have seen, you'll suceed every time. So, where's the challenge?
That's a case for getting the packs thoroughly tested by paid gamers with NDAs before bringing them out. Have you ever looked through the list of game testers for "The Sims" when that came out. It was almost as long as that of Lord of the Rings!
I expect Maxis would be very grateful for Carl's review and possible patches might follow. He should be taken on the payroll as he is so good at his job.
No, i never saw that list. But i agree they should have more testers before the packs are released ?- simsimsereRising Scout

So you'd like a checklist of stove, fridge etc? Pretty sure it would still be possible to make a kitchen that's dysfunctional or weird otherwise. How is the game going to check that the kitchen is usable? I watched a couple of gameplay videos and there were some failures. Not completely sure why but I think they ignored some of the likes and just went with their own ideas.
I'ld like that the game would say something like "it looks beautiful but i've asked for a kitchen..." because imo the fact that it doesn't defies the whole decorator job... how will they do it? Well i don't know... im not a programmer. But that's how it should work... It's really a shame that with so few content, this pack has this kind of oversights...
I admit that line would make sense in some situations, but it not being there doesn't bother me because I plan to keep the houses functional anyway. "musteni;c-17897977" wrote:

I understand it. If you don't defy the game it will work just fine. The problem i see is when we, the decorators, forget about something or just fail, even when trying to do it well. In those occasions we'll improve our decorator rating anyway instead of being properly penalized. But this surely only makes sense if we're looking for a bit of challenge...- akl1226New SpectatorWell I’m still excited even if some don’t like it. Bugs aren’t the best thing to be having with a new pack....but I feel like this will still be a really good pack especially once they are addressed and fixed. Even plumbella said once the bugs are addressed it will likely be her favorite game pack. She’s super honest about her feelings so that was nice to hear. Sounds like it needs some balancing as well but they fixed some of those issues with bust the dust so I’m not counting out that being addressed.

Sims don't really react to dog poop. It can be used as fertilizer and stored in their inventory with no issues, so I wouldn't expect them to complain about it if left behind as a sort of signature when decorating. I was surprised though that we could decorate any room we wanted and not just a specific one. If clients ask for a kitchen, I suppose we can still give them a badly designed kitchen or a rock climbing room, it all depends on the presentation I guess, the benefits of having a rock climbing room over a kitchen. - victoriaFF1884New Spectator

I haven’t liked a pack personally since before Discover University so I get being skeptical and cautious. I get needing the game to make the challenge to the game is lacking so many things. But in the end it should be about how you play and not really listen to others because you might find it a better experience then what they did. If that makes any sense.?
