Homework and Toddler Beds

I know this is something that's been going on forever, but it is really annoying. Is there ever going to be a fix to this???

  • I’m guessing you mean kids/teens are doing homework on a toddler bed instead of someplace closer? Yeah that’s annoying, it’s like how sims will go far to eat near another sim. It used to be possible to add which chair you wanted them to sit in, while it was in the queue, and they’d go there. Or maybe it was my imagination. I feel like I had that kind of control at one point, but it’s been a few years. I just know that doesn’t work anymore, I have to wait until the sim sits down wherever the crummy AI tells them.
  • It's the most annoying thing in sims 4. The seating AI. I like to have control where sims sit and it drives me nuts that they are all over the place playing musical chairs or sitting in odd places. But it's been like that since release pretty much. I can't cope without sitting mods lol
  • Maybe it was happening before, but I think it's a side effect of University because since then, sims simply do not want to be alone while doing things like reading and homework, despite those being things that (imo) should be done alone. (I put that empty desk and reading chair in your room for a reason, young sim, so use it!)

I always redirect to a desk or other seating and usually they'll move and continue their reading/homework there. Not always, but more often than not.
  • Sometimes the toddler is asleep and their siblings go into their room and turn on the lights just to do homework in their beds. It ruins the immersion for me. Just let the kid sleep! :'(
  • Something I've noticed is that sims gravitate to other sims whenever they do activities such as eating, reading or homework. They always choose to do these activities where other sims are even if the sims are asleep in their beds, its a bit weird.
  • doesn't bother me but then I'm particular I'll tell them to homework and where to sit when I am not using mods.
  • But I don't have any 'mean' Sims in my game. All of the kids prefer, it seems to sit on the little bed to do their homework. Maybe they're reliving the days when they didn't have homework — or other responsibilities?
  • It's even worse with kids, because while toddlers can still go to sleep while there are people sitting on their bed, older kids can't. Cut to me cursing at my computer, because someone had yet again decided to to their homework sitting on their sibling's bed despite having several chairs and couches around, thus making it impossible for said sibling to go to sleep. Lucifer's home, if you really need to sit on a bed, sit on your own.

    YESSSS!!! It drives me crazy!!!!!
  • I get this all the time. As a solution I kick the kid/teen and sometimes adult out of the room and lock the door(s) for everyone but the occupant of the room.
I just had a sim child do their homework while sitting on a swing set (from a mod) it was freezing out so I sent the little lazy inside to do his homework with his brother at the dining room table.
Desks drive me nuts too because they'll go into their siblings' rooms to sit at their desk instead of one of their own. So now, they don't have desks without a computer on it.
The worst I've had though is kids kneeling outside in the snow or rain to do their homework.
I wish that if they were going to do their homework on the floor the would, at least, utilize the coffee table.
