Hopes and desires for a Star Wars game pack
All this waiting and anticipation of the announcement has me restless, so I’d like to compile a thread of things I want to see in a supposed Galaxy’s edge game pack. If you’re not a Star Wars fan click away, we about to geek out!
First things first, the patch! I’ve seen it said a few times already, but if we’re travelling to Batuu then there’s one crucial update this game needs and that’s curved walls. Can you imagine a fantasy Star Wars world with no curved walls, because I can’t. Coruscant, Lothal, Pantora, Naboo, Tatooine, even Yoda’s hut and the ewok villages all comprise of curved structures, this galaxy loves a round building!
Batuu is no exception, just look at it—full of beautifully old, rusty, curvy storefronts and apartments.
The only other way I can see Batuu brought to life in this game is by using round shells a bit like the apartments in City Living, with buildable interiors, but that would just break my heart, because I want to be able to edit and customise the world to my liking (ugh, the story of my sims 4 life...) so I’m desperately hoping for a free curved walls update, let’s be honest it’s long overdue in this game series.
Now onto the game pack content...
I don’t want this to be a story pack to be honest, I’d much prefer be given the tools to tell my own stories, but with that being said there’s one character I really want to interact with and that’s Vi.
If you’ve read the book Black Spire by Delilah S. Dawson, you’ll know what a crucial character Vi Moradi is to the Galaxy’s Edge story.
She’s a spy sent to the Outer Rim planet Batuu by the Resistance, to recruit allies for the Alliance to Restore the Republic in the war against the First Order. When her ship crash-lands she is left with nothing but a melancholic worker droid named Pook (who reminds me a lot of Marvin from Hitchhikers) and an injured ex-First Order captain called Archex, as well as having a wicked concussion, and she basically single-handedly establishes a camp, sources food and water and takes care of the whole group by going into town and finding work at the scrapyard, she's basically superwoman!
While I don't want to replay her story from the book, if all we got of Vi in this pack is her iconic wig and Resistance jacket, I’d be over the moon to be able to make my own Vi Moradi Sim and tell new stories with her. However I hope she’s an actual character living in the town as she is a major part of the Disney park and it'd be so fun to bump into her from time to time.
Another cool feature would be World Adventure style quests that npcs around town could issue out. Depending on the character giving the mission, they could range from fetch quests, to getting to know the locals, trading things at the marketplace etc.

Here is a great map showing off all the locations you can visit in the park and where they are in relation to each other.

Black Spire outpost has some truly stunning architecture, it looks so lived in and run-down, the very aesthetic that makes Star Wars so iconic and unique as a film franchise.
In an ideal world, I'd want to be able to visit every single location featured in both the Disney park, as well as the book, but if that's unrealistic then I'd settle for the most iconic locations: the bars and restaurants, shops etc.
There is a network of caves that Vi explores in the book, which lead to an ancient and derelict civilisation built deep within the landscape by a society known as the Ancients who once inhibited the planet. Full of boobytraps, it's where the resistance eventually builds their base, and in the park you can see ships parked there within the cave entrance, so that’d be a great place to explore and even build a cool cave house!

Merchant row and the Marketplace (which are both so much larger in the book) are where the majority of the vendors sell their wares, from street foods and drinks, to creature plushies and other toys/souvenirs, clothes, jewellery and other accessories, it's a sprawling shopping district packed with many stalls where most of the local populous are employed.

Oga’s Cantina where all the pilots and traders passing through Black Spire go for a good time. The cantina has a wide range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, bubbling and frothing with delicious nibbles adorned on top. The disc jockey droid R-3X provides entertainment for customers with his funky techno beats, so I could see some of his songs being added to a new radio station perhaps.

Ronto roasters and docking bay 7 food and cargo, two restaurants that serve a bounty of galactic treats, not sure how this would work separate from Dine Out, but I hope they figure out a way because they’re such important parts of the Disney park and have such a vast range of yummy foods.

The farmlands surrounding the outskirts of Black Spire, home to a sort of off-the-grid community of farmers and hunters who dislike how busy the outpost is becoming in recent years. I’d especially love an easter egg of Waba the truffleboar, a pig... dog... thing, who joins Vi on her adventure in the book and basically saves her life, maybe a carved wooden figuring or something!
https://d302e0npexowb4.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/02171420/millennium-falcon-approaches-black-spire-outpost.jpg
I also want lots of free space both within and on the outskirts of the outpost. Black Spire is a huuuge spaceport, not at all captured by the confines of the Disney park where everything is so close in proximity, it’s not at all like that in the book.
Taking into account how small the worlds appear to be getting, I’d appreciate 5 free lots to build on, on top of the preexisting stores and marketplaces, and 2 apartment blocks with 2-4 apartments inside each. The book implies that a lot of the locals live in quite modest apartment homes all squished in next to each other, a bit like Anakin’s slave quarters on Tatooine, lots of cosy houses stacked up together.

Game packs usually deliver very well in build mode, Jungle Adventures and Spa Day have some of the best objects in the game, so I’d hope this pack is no different. I expect a fabulously fantastical array of sci-fi inspired build objects and clutter, Batuu is iconic for it's marketplaces with colourful awnings draped from building to building, and cobbled together storefronts composed of old ship parts and rusting metal.

If you've visited the park, you’ll know that all the characters there greet you with “bright suns!” during the day, and at night “rising moons!” among other things. Wouldn’t it be cool if townies in the outpost also used this terminology? Obviously any greeting would be in simlish, but I can picture a speech bubble above the Sim’s head with three suns or two moons, implying the colloquial gesture.
It'd be a nice feature to have little autonomous droids that wheel around your home lot, a bit like the roomba from Cats and Dogs, or even remote control droids and toy speeders that kids can pilot themselves!

A handicap for Vi in the book is her resistance-affiliated outfit and how the locals won’t trust her until she assimilates to their more neutral style of dress, which consists of a lot of brightly coloured neck scarves if I remember rightly. Seems like the perfect chance to add a new category to the accessories tab, for neck scarves, head scarves, shawls, kerchiefs and other adornments.
A lot of Batuu citizens dress quite modestly, in soft brown and beige robes adorned with scarves, but many of the spacers and travellers that pass through the outpost standout and don’t bother to fit in with the local dress code, so the town merchants tend to ramp up the prices when trading. It’d be nice if a Sim visiting the outpost could get better deals on supplies if they’re dressed like a local, but I’d also like a selection of random spacer and smuggler outfits too (if I wanted to play a different story!)

There’s a Twi’lek merchant in town called Arta, who sells scarves and other garments, all handmade from soft silky fabrics and brightly coloured. Speaking of Twi'leks, that brings me to another feature I’d love to see and that’s more alien costumes to choose from, such as Twi’lek headtails in varying colours and skin patterns, for all ages too, not just the adults! As well as many other species of alien from the films, Wookiees, Togruta, Pantoran and Mirialan face paintings etc.
I picture four distinct collectibles in this pack, which is a lot for a game pack, but I remain optimistic!
- Star Wars memorabilia
If you visit Dok-Ondar’s den of antiquities, you’ll find a huge range of souvenirs inspired by the Star Wars universe, from busts of famous characters, to books, mugs, posters, necklaces, costumes and all sorts! The collector in me wants to go there in real life and buy literally everything, but I’d settle for a tidy sum of about 15-20 collectible pieces of memorabilia in the game pack!

Two of the merchant buildings in Black Spire Outpost, the Toydarian Toymaker—owned by Zabaka who sells cute plushies, and the Wooden Wookie—owned by Lunacca, who I think sells hand carved wooden toys and sculptures, would make a neat collection for the younger sims to complete, maybe not all of the toys are available for purchase so you’d have to complete a few fetch-quests in order to gain the complete collection from the vendors.

For those unfamiliar, a holocron is a force user’s device to store information, knowledge, force techniques, as well as a tool to incite force visions, and occasionally used as keys in Jedi and Sith temples.
I can picture again a collection of ten holocrons, each of which—like in the Disney park—enlightens the player with Star Wars lore, or just goofy dad jokes.
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/de/14/d8/de14d89d455315570996c8bc0650837f.jpg - Kyber crystals
The key component of a lightsaber, a mystical crystal that resonates and amplifies the wielder’s connection to the force. I picture a collection of 10 kyber crystals in various colours: blue, purple, pink, green, teal, yellow, white, orange, red and black.
And how cute would it be if the crystals were shaped like tiny little plumbobs!
I imagine these would be the hardest collection to complete and require a high level career at Savi’s Workshop.
A large portion of the plot of Black Spire is Vi working as a gatherer for Savi and Son Salvage, a front for the secretive Savi’s Workshop where lightsabers are constructed from parts gathered by the gatherers in the scrapyard on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost.
I think this would make an amazing and perfectly fitting career for the pack. Playing as a gatherer, Sims would work their way to earning Savi’s trust and eventually have the opportunity to build their own lightsaber from parts acquired either in the workshop, or found in the scrapyard.
I expect to be able to visit and browse Savi’s salvage yard, the shop and also the workshop once a high enough career level is reached.
https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/f/f7911641-bf03-4de1-9508-84a4bf674e4b/de36t46-75547b91-7abf-4b5d-a71f-7008a56e56cf.png/v1/fill/w_1280,h_440,strp/saviworkshop_by_hazzaplumbob_de36t46-fullview.png?token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiOiJ1cm46YXBwOiIsImlzcyI6InVybjphcHA6Iiwib2JqIjpbW3siaGVpZ2h0IjoiPD00NDAiLCJwYXRoIjoiXC9mXC9mNzkxMTY0MS1iZjAzLTRkZTEtOTUwOC04NGE0YmY2NzRlNGJcL2RlMzZ0NDYtNzU1NDdiOTEtN2FiZi00YjVkLWE3MWYtNzAwOGE1NmU1NmNmLnBuZyIsIndpZHRoIjoiPD0xMjgwIn1dXSwiYXVkIjpbInVybjpzZXJ2aWNlOmltYWdlLm9wZXJhdGlvbnMiXX0.YtFdfvmU5EQ69Fz42plBaQNrciJ-hzt8zE3QLnSRfF4
The second career I’d enjoy playing is that of a smuggler, there is a ride at the park called smugglers run, after all.
While I’ve never been to Galaxys edge irl, I understand that the smugglers run ride establishes that a certain character, the charming pirate Honda Onaka has teamed up with Chewbacca to endeavour on a few different missions set throughout the galaxy, smuggling, liberating cargo, what have you.
I think this would be a really fun career, and I’d like the Millennium falcon, which is parked in the Batuu Spaceport, to be the rabbit hole destination object that a sim walks to, enters and then flies off in, followed by a series of text adventures (which I don’t care what anyone says, I think are quite fun.) I’d be even more ecstatic if there was a Hondo or a Chewy npc roaming around the town, or a costume of them to dress up in!
https://starwarsblog.starwars.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/millennium-falcon-galaxys-edge-concept-art-04.jpg
So that’s my list of anticipated features, I’m sure I’ve forgotten a bunch and I’ve no idea really what to expect, although compiling this thread has made me realise how big the theme is and I wish it was a full expansion pack! But I hope you enjoyed reading and possibly it made you a little warmer to the idea of a Star Wars pack in the sims, because lord knows this is what I’ve been waiting for the last 6 years!
Till the spire...
