Hot weather & cold weather wear coming to base?

So in the live stream the other day they mentioned some of the new stuff that will be patched in for base game like the glass roofs the gardening updates, and both weather wears for cas. Now I don't have any real issue with them adding more wear categories but I just don't understand why since their isn't any gameplay surrounding them.

Now from what I understand your sims will automatically change into these categories based on if it's hot or cold outside but since there is no weather in the base game when will my sims actually use them? It's nice for players who want more outfits for their sims but me personally I just don't see any reasons I'd use them.

Clothes can already be tagged as toddler swimwear in S4S. Not sure how long that's been an option though.

I discovered that when I downloaded a toddler swimsuit the other day and went in to check it's tags.

Hot/Cold clothes tags aren't yet available.

They will be available after the update Tuesday.
  • I want to guess it's really just for future convenience in lieu of how to make the whole seasonal wear work without a complete overhaul of every CAS item and also for easy use with future packs that have these new categories in mind. I'd find it extremely difficult to code every single piece of CAS clothing with warmth ratings or something since it's been 4 years worth of content in there and find it an easy resolution to just tie it to new hot/cold clothing categories instead.
  • It's because it's a huge UI change and its easier to roll those out as base. It takes more effort to restrict it to a pack. There is little reason in this case to put in that effort.
  • The toddlers swimsuit wasn't really a surprise for me. I'm pretty sure we'll be getting the pools stuff pack somewhere in the future, which I don't mind. But it's interesting to read everybody's insight on two other categories :)

I hadn't thought of that. Looks like I know what I'll be doing in my master save. Can't wait to figure out what all my sims would wear in hot/cold weather.

Definitely that coat from C&D in hot weather. <3
  • It's absolutely ridiculous. The game doesn't have hot and cold weather in base. They're unusable clothes with absolutely no purpose. Also, there's barely anything that the game recognises as hot and cold. So the tags have no use either. It's only in there to make you think you need the expansion pack. All they want is money.
The sooner they get rid of it from base, the better.

I will not because it is ridiculous. It is not needed and it is lazy. I miss back in the old days when they actually had to put effort into the games they made. Did you get to see the Pleasure aspiration in TS2 before you got the pack? Did you get to roam around the universities before you got the pack? No. Why? 'Cause that's dumb. People would and should complain about their game having things in it they literally cannot use.
