I kept the lint tray clean, but seems the washer/dryer doesn't like my sims at all. I just started playing this household (play testing my house I built) and a few days(maybe a week?) later a fire started. No one could extinguish it. Kids went to school except the teen. The parents, teen and toddler were about to die and I panicked. Came to forums to get cheats, activated the one to not let anyone die and the one to make them happy. The fire lasted two days before it was done. NOTHING I could do but wait and watch. Yeah, I never used sprinklers before and never worried about getting their skills up. Glad I didn't have a two story house. Has anyone else had a fire last this long? Is this a bug?

When it comes to fires, I always pause the game. I have discovered that just clicking on the fire won't give an option to put it out, but rather in a location that is under the fire. I pause the game because it always takes me a bit to find it, and can only find it when the game is in pause.

Had the same problem - think the last update must have bugged something - had a fire and my sim kept acting like she could not get to it to extinguish it (have seen a lot of these routing errors since the patch). I did the cheat reset on the stove and luckily it went out because I don't even think you can quit the game when an event is happening.

Yeah, I don't think fire is done particularly well in this game. I too have been having routing issues with fires lately. There was also a sim I tried to purposely kill by fire and they just stood within the fire as it blazed all around them until it eventually died out.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. Normally I don't bother with the sprinkler system, because it takes too long to put anything out, but it sounds like it will be a better option, at least until this is delt with.

Which is why we need firefighter NPC back in active career option.

Yesterday I had my second fire since I began playing Sims4. My male Sim was cooking and the stove caught fire as well as my Sim. He was in a full-on panic but wouldn't move away from the stove. I was unable to cancel the 'I'm on fire!" action in his qeue so he could be directed to extinguish the blaze. Thankfully, his girlfriend was there and I was able to cancel her reaction to the fire in her qeue then she used the fire extinguisher to put out the fire, saving her boyfriend and the kitchen. Both of the fires I have had began on the stove for some reason. It really caught me off-guard as fires have been almost non-existent in my game. So after reading this I am wondering if this is another glitch that is happening after the latest patch. My game has been wonky as heck since that patch dropped. Just in case it is, I am going to install sprinklers in all my playable households because I don't want to lose any of my Sims while I am doing a rotation through my families. We all know our Sims aren't very smart when it comes to fires. :#

I have had several fires in my new rotational project. I am grateful now that none of them were prolonged or fatal.
I had at least two stove fires (from low cooking skill) and a dryer fire (even if it distinctly didn’t say it needed the lint tray cleaned at the time).
An extractor/rangehood burnt in the stove fire and failed to have the “Replace” option. It’s still sitting in the kitchen charred. That’s about the real worst of it. Where Sims caught on fire {and they did} they were able to be extinguished by others {whew.}

Yep, been having routing issues ever since the Strangerville patch. Like my sims will always go to the dining room table and sit to put down a book and stuff like that. I had a fire on my lot too and no one could extinguish it because the thought bubble said they couldn't reach it. It would be so nice if the Sims JUST ONCE put out a patch that didn't break something.

If they ever add firemen, I’ll be extremely happy that we don’t have an open world! Sometimes in ts3 they wouldn’t get there until after the fire, and then they’d charge you for wasting their time.

The fire jumped between rooms? Was it an open floor plan with no door to the laundry room? It's excessive but wow... not sure I'd mind it personally. Things like that don't happen often enough and it gives me bragging rights when it does.
I had one fire started by the cheap grill in the backyard that lasted for .. around 6-8 hours it kept going from one flammable thing to another while Grimmy waited in the house for his prize. The sim had died fairly early on but he waited till he was safe I guess... This was awhile ago though maybe 2 years?

Wow, that is a lot of fires. I always made sure the lint tray was cleaned too. Did the fire just put itself out or were you able to extinguish the fires?

My Sims were able to put them out. I can’t quite recall if these happened before or after I patched to the latest (freelance career) patches. I think potentially before.
Like I said, none of the fires was prolonged or widespread in the event.

No, you're not allowed to change lots or go anywhere in the midst of an Event. Frustrating, sometimes.

In my safe, it were mostly campfires that could not be extinguished at all. The command would just slip out of the queue everytime I gave it. My Sims were rescued by some guest who managed to extinguish the fire autonomously.

The sitting before putting something away or doing another interaction is even more annoying as it happens constantly. Also, it is more annoying as it's a bug that had already been fixed ages ago.
