How Can Cars Function In Sims 4?

I don't see the point I having cars in sims 4 because of how the game operates. A lot of people want it but I don't think they really thought out how it would work in the worlds.
So would your sim gets into the car, it drives to the end of the street and then into a loading screen? But that's just a long animation you could skip with the phone. Or would you just walk to the car, get in and them go into a loading screen? I guess driving up and down the area you're trapped in would increase your fun need.
Would you buy a pack just for cars?

  • Well, I do want cars but I do miss the fact that you can just travel with your Sim wherever they go like how they did in Sims 3. That's the only version of the cars I'd want. I tried the bikes and it was annoying to me anyways. The jetski and stuff seemed to be ok going on the water all around but who knows how'd they include the cars. I just kind of wish the loading screen wasn't there like the Sims 3. That's my only complaint for Sims 4 now.
  • I liked the fix the car in Sims2 or the sit and listen to the radio, never played 3 so no opinion there, but it would be nice to have the fix a car, traits and hobbies in 4. As for the fake car and garage on houses, I build real houses, using real floor plans; I'm not about to leave out a garage just because the game doesn't have "cars"...when you rent/buy a house do you ask them to demolish the garage because you don't own a car? smh This whole post is dumb. Why do we talk about things we have no control over?
  • Driving would not be the gameplay part that you would add with cars, you could add things like fuel economy, conditions, customization, upgrades, car mechanic skills and fixing and selling cars for a profit. And then you could make them better than fast travel by adding bonuses like filling needs like fun, social, bladder or hunger for everyone traveling in the car by adding options to stop at a rest stop, listen to music or talk with your friends that you travel with.

There are plenty of things you could do with cars still, but for some reason the attitude recently is that we are supposed to be happy with what we are getting, to the point that things like ladders or bunk beds are too much to ask.
  • I also agree that there are plenty of things you can do with a car. I like the idea of having it as a skill like it was previously, and I also liked how we could teach the teens to drive a car. In TS4 a drivers test could be something incorporated into the calendar feature for teenagers. A pass would depend on how much they were taught or how often they practiced. A fail would be if you didn't do it enough. A mechanic job would also be a really cool feature to incorporate or being able to start your own mechanic shop.
  • With how the game is built I could easily see it working like it did in the Sims 2.

Your Sim would get into the car in the driveway and start the car and back it up and drive away. They could go for drives. They could carpool, drive to community lot (complete with loading screen) woohoo in the car. Set the car alarm etc. With the FreeTime expansion there was the fix up car which was fun to build and customize and then you could either set that as your car or sell it. Multiple Sims could work on it at a time.

There could be lots of ways to introduce it into TS4 !
  • As a "life simulator" it makes no sense to skip cars.

We have drones, bikes, bots, but no cars.

If nothing else it's a goal for our Sims, say, to be able to buy a fancy sports car once they become an Adult, and another place to sink all the money that currently piles up with nowhere to go. The same reason why people want "freed babies" is the same reason I want cars: realism.
