You have to press all 4 trigger/bumper buttons at the same time to open the cheat bar, then type "testingcheats" to activate cheats. Note that you won't be able to earn trophies/achievements in save files with cheats enabled.

If u search on youtube there are plenty of vudeos to show you how to input cheats and how to earn trophied. There are even vudeos on how to apply traits to your sims without using cheats and disabling trophies.
