How do I get Tomatoes?

I bought probably 20 units of every type of seed from both the garden box and the computer, I scoured the neighborhoods, I went into all the community buildings and the park. What am I missing? Also need apple trees. I keep getting the same things from the vegetable seeds I buy: mushrooms and spinach. fruit seeds keep giving me grapes and plantains. Is my game bugged?

I just make a couple of visits to the Spice Market in San Myshuno and buy all the standard fruits and vegetables from the produce stand, including tomatoes and potatoes. The produce stand usually shows up within 2-3 visits there. Then I plant one of each fruit and vegetable, get the garden going and never need to buy them again.

WELL looks like that's my plan for the foreseeable

Is there a special recipe that we need tomatoes for? I can't remember.

Spaghetti is one thing I know of for sure, my sims go through quite a few tomatoes and garlic in their meals.

    Garlic?! There's garlic??!?!?!

To have Garlic you need the Vampire Pack. It's used for cooking, warding off vampires when fighting them, and other stuff.

  • I don't know if this has been mentioned on this thread, yet, but just in case it hasn't, while reaching level 5 gardening then hitting the trailer-like house in Oasis Springs and a bit east of it to get a cutting from a tomato plant and graft it with whatever to harvest tomatoes later has helped, if you have the City Living expansion, it's much easier to get tomatoes. You can actually buy them! One place that I can confirm sells tomatoes, potatoes, and other hard-to-find produce is the "Produce" stand in the art district of San Myshuno town. Hope this helps someone.

Easier way. Sim goes to granite falls... camping... vacation. The Hut were you get your tent ect sells TOMATOES!!!!!! I did it that way and it worked.

Oh, thank you for this! I used to be able to find them at the Spice Festival, but lately they have much of what they had growing before, but NO TOMATOES. I still haven't captured a lemon, either. All I need is one or a splice of one and voilà I'll have lemons in my Sims' own garden.
  • Oasis springs - go to the right most house, the blue one that looks like a trailer. If you look around you'll see 3 planter boxes down the road which has a tomato plant.

For potatoes go to Willow Creek to Garden Essence, you'll find the potato plant also in a planter box in the garden next to the property.
  • I got tomatoes and Birds of Paradise plants at the plants they grow at the Spice festival.
