How do sprinklers work?

I bought the sprinkler system and have it mounted on an outside wall. So far, I've had two fires and the sprinklers did not turn on.

I didn't even know there were sprinklers---I wonder if I can misuse them in my game?

You have the smoke alarm as well? You need both for it to work

Ah! I thought it was one or the other!!! As for smoke alarms, do you just need one or one in each room?

I think just one in any room should do, had a fire in the living room and the alarm was kitchen and the sprinkler went off

It's that ugly box under the alarm sub-category in electronics. Mine has been functioning quite well. An alarm goes off and then the sprinklers kick in. Puts out the fire in front of my fireplace just fine.

Be careful with that unless you don't mind your sim catching on fire. I don't remember if sprinklers will put out a sim...

I was wondering about that. Thanks.

Update: The fire alarm didn't go off when my sim caught fire in the laundry room. The alarm is on the other side of the house. So, either the alarm doesn't go off when a sim catches fire or the smoke didn't make it through the house.

I'm guessing it's the first one. I'll try again though. I think there's a pair of dirty jeans in the hamper.
