How do the bloodline traits work?

I’ve been wondering, how do the bloodline traits work? I had a spellcaster be abducted by aliens, and he gave birth to a completely human baby with a bloodline trait. MCCC seems to imply that in any spellcaster/other occult pairing you’ll either get a baby that’s a spellcaster or one that’s a human. Do human sim babies still get the bloodline traits from normal sim pregnancies or something? Is this something MCCC does to prevent glitches?

  • When a spellcaster without a bloodline trait gets a child, the child recieves the weak bloodline trait. When a spellcaster with a weak bloodline trait has a child, the child will get a strong bloodline. And a spellcaster parent with a strong bloodline will lead to a child with an ancient bloodline. I don't have many spellcasters with children, the few I had always had a spellcaster child. But I think the bloodline is independent of the occult state of the sim. As far as I know both human sims and spellcasters sims can have a bloodline trait but the trait only does something for the spellcaster. The bloodline trait determines how easy a spellcaster can learn magic. The human sim doesn't get any advantage, unless he decides to become a spellcaster.

The spellcaster bloodline gets stronger if at least one of the parents is a spellcaster and weaker if none of them aren't.

    Quoted from Carl's Sims Guide:

    "Spellcaster, Alien, and Vampire:

This is relevant to look at first, because if your Spellcaster has offspring with a non-caster occult it's possible for the other occult to pass. It's almost always 50/50, although a witch with an alien would appear to always produce a witch or full-blooded alien and a witch with half-alien could result in witch (50% of the time), no occult (25%) or half-alien (25%). A witch with vampire would result in 50/50 between witch and vampire. Not too complicated, except in the case of half aliens and in particular if you throw in Dark Ley Line which will always make vampire extremely likely no matter the other combos."
  • Bloodlines are just subsequent generations of Spellcaster children. In other words, the first generation born to spellcasters are a weak bloodline - that generation give birth to a strong bloodline - and those sims' children are ancient bloodline. After the first generation, it doesn't matter if they are spellcasters anymore. They just have the trait and would be excellent spellcasters.
