I do have an Alexa because of my parents. As far as the Sims being on Alexa which is kind of weird to say, I'm indifferent towards it. I do think it could have been presented in 15 min max because 30 min on it did feel too long and most of the time in chat was spent with a really salty chat. I mean I get that people aren't happy with the product but these comments like lazy, people shouldn't be Gurus, and death threats are uncalled for, but I do see a lot of ignorance about the technology. I mean I grew up in the age of pagers and I remember people saying how useless smart phones were when they first came out too and now a lot of people have one. As far as using the product, I'll probably use the music portion of it mainly because generally I use it when I'm cooking or baking for timers. Also will be nice to use the music while cleaning too or on days I am feeling so ill I can't even play Sims or other games. I could see it being very useful for streamers too and actually seen a lot of streamers stream while using their Alexa device. Actually don't need an echo or a dot to use it since it works on mobile devices too as long as you have the app. Actually quite funny how a Disney movie Smart House was kind of a prediction of devices like Alexa except for not having the floor absorbers. So pretty much instead of talking to a phone, you can talk to a speaker to do the things your phone can do and Alexa is pretty much like Siri just owned by Amazon instead.
The December patch did bring the Lin-Z Smart Speaker into the Sims 4, so any further questions of what an Alexa is can just check out that object in the game. We also got two patches in December and I have noticed that even though some patches aren't announced doesn't mean that the Gurus aren't making a change to the game. There have been multiple times where I realize a bug I was having was fixed in between patch notes before. Sure I want things for the Sims 4, but if anything I learned from the game is even when updates come, keep expectations low because they tend to be a lot smaller in scale than previous iterations even though some of the objects are huge compared to the tiny neighborhoods. There have been some things like aliens, toddlers, and vampires that have exceeded expectations. But even if there was a patch in January made, I still think that people would be disappointed in not having CAS items for adult females again even though we have more than enough content for them except in the makeup and tattoo department. Would be nice to content for other Sims, other styles besides modern, more things for builders, more tools, NPCs, supernaturals, and a variety of colors for a change.
In short, yes I'm indifferent towards the Alexa Sims skill thing, but honestly less disappointed with this than another silly costume for a Sims to wear or YA/Adult female or modern furniture content only. At least this is an attempt at something different for the Sims community.
