How do you get dust bunnies?

I got rid of the maid, I won't let my sims clean, I set the settings so I would get them and the lot is set to filthy but my house still sparkles and I can't get any dust bunnies. What do I need to do? And are they even worth trying to get? Thanks

  • You have to wait for a bit for the house to get grungy. This means you don't vacuum.

Dust bunnies give you like a lot of money, to the point where they're pretty broken. And they can find super rare collectibles you're normally supposed to get in jungle run playthroughs.
  • Thanks for responding, I don't let any of my sims vacuum or clean or anything, and my house is still sparkling. Even built a new house with filthy attribute and the place is still sparkling, no dust bunnies. I exhausted all avenues guess I'm destined to have a clean house forever. :(
  • Just how long have you let it sit? Mine stayed fairly clean as well even with a household of eight, but it does eventually get dusty/dirty when you do not clean. Why not trap eight randoms in a house with both unhygienic traits and see how long it takes?

Hey there! FYI: I moved this thread to the Packs Discussion section. :)
  • Calico45, sorry I didn't respond sooner but I only get the chance to play once a week on my day off. I've had it sit for over two weeks and still nothing. Not a big deal I guess just would like to see what they're like but no matter what I do everything is sparkling clean no matter where I live, but thanks for responding.
  • EA_Leeloo, I have no idea where the Packs Discussion section is. I looked in the "Discussion's" category but I didn't see it. Can you tell me the link /page? Sorry but I'm not real familiar with how the forum works, usually only use it when I'm desperate to find info. Thanks
  • EA_Leeloo, LOL, I get what you were saying now. Guess that verifies that I don't use the forums much. :o o:)

Hm... That is weird. I'm assuming you never turned dust effects off in the options, but I also thought they fixed the bugs that kept it from working. This might sound weird, but are you sure that you did no cleaning in two in game weeks?

I say this because my first house with the dust kit was a haunted house (apparently bugged to not have dust sometimes until it was fixed, but I never had that problem) and the spectors were aggressive every time I had visitors. Just cleaning up the scorch marks counted as cleaning. The one dust bunny I managed to start taming disappeared.
  • You are correct, I never turned dust effects off but I wasn't aware that the haunted house was bugged to not have dust sometimes. And I keep a close eye to make sure that no one cleans anything ever. LOL I also have filthy as a lot trait and my house doesn't get dirty. I know I'm a stickler for cleanliness in my real home but I didn't think it would carry over into the Sims. LOL I will try removing the haunted house residence to just residential and see if that helps. (I have all the updated patches, just so you know.)
  • They updated the haunted lot trait to get dust now too. However, the dirtiness was nerfed because people said it got dirty too fast. As a rotational player i have seen not one spec of dust. I basically have a useless pack now because I have yet to see one dust bunny since I rotate and it takes so long to get dirty.
I'm going mod hunting for something that can give me more dust more often.
