How do you make your big houses playable?

I have not played much in big builds but I think its important to use as few of everything as possible when it comes to b/b like limit decorations limit moving stuff limit items with mirror effect try to use same floor and wallpaper in as many rooms as possible try to not use too many lights etc.
I always try to remember to save before adding any lights cause thats like 99% of the time when it crashes
