How do YOU share your Sims Stories?

Do you take screenshots? Do you take movie shots, edit the video clips in a video editor, export the project file into a completed movie and upload onto YouTube or some other kind of video-sharing platform?

What kind of videos do you make? Speedbuilds, stop-motion builds, build challenges, build tutorials, CAS challenges, create-a-Sim videos, save file reviews, mod/CC reviews, Sims 4 News, etc? Machinimas, lengthy films, video series, let's plays, still-pictures-and-captions-in-video-form-like-a-long-presentation?

In my own Sims 4 game, I usually like to reserve the Screenshots for my own storytelling. I just take a Screenshot, write a little blurb for the caption, add an emotion and move on. I do this to document what has happened in the game. The Sims 4 doesn't have the ability to share these stories like the Sims 2 once did with the Family Albums, and outside the game, you can just access the screenshots, not the captions. And it will take some work trying to put the screenshots online and include captions to go along with it. Also, you don't always know if the order of the pictures will ever change in the long run, so you can't really record the whole screen and talk about the pictures that way either. You can, but the order of pictures may be off.

So, I just resort to making story videos of my Sims, and then upload the videos to YouTube.

  • Hi @Bren91 , do you use the household bios? Those can add a lot of depth in the way you are wishing for.
  • I take a lot of screenshots and share them on my blog. The blog is on wordpress and I can really recommend that platform, I've been using it for many years. My sims each have their own tag which helps to see stories they appear in and also gives a little bio. I used to post a twitter story aside of my blog, but unsure if I'll continue, it's not my favourite place to share.
  • I use screenshots to go along with a full text chapter on both of my stories. I'll take at least 75-100 on average for a single chapter. It's not unusual for me to have 200+ screenshots for a chapter. It all depends on the storyline. I share one story exclusively here on the forum and I have another that I'm about to move over to an offsite blog.
