I'm selfish lol. If one of the choices is to be promoted to highest level or early retirement I'll first check to see what the rewards my sim might lose are; if they're really good ones I'll choose the one that keeps my sim at their current level. If they're "meh" I'll take the promotion/retirement.
For other type chances it really depends on the situation. I've had one concerning updating an app; first time I chose to get it & got a performance increase, second time I chose to update I took a performance loss.
