How does culling work in the console version?

There are no options to protect households or set a limit that came with the recent update so im interested to know how its handled in the game.

And I wish they would update console with the new culling methods. A clarification from @SimGuruDrake on the population limit for console would be nice.

Honestly I still don't even understand how the version for PC works lol, it still confuses me. But I agree I wish we knew what our population limit is for right now. I have a feeling eventually we'll get it patched in to match PC.

I believe before PC got that update, the limit for culling was 200 Sims regardless, so I believe we still have it. You can mark Sims as being Played Households though, which I think don't get culled, and currently doesn't have a limit to how many can be marked as Played. It took me a while to realize console could even do that lol.
How do you know that we don't even have that culling option like the PC version does,

Because we can't set the Max Sims Count like you can on PC.
When I said how do you know the culling limit I meant we don't have the option to change the culling limit like the PC so we don't know how many sims are allowed in the neighborhoods before culling takes place.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood, though it turns out I was wrong. It used to be 200, but now it's 305, I didn't know it was raised. Source. (Scroll to the bottom of the second comment.)

But that is PC and we don't have every pack in the console version that made the limit go higher so we really don't know what the console limit of culling is.

@SimGuruNick confirmed on twitter that it is 413 currently.

He said currently so hopefully that means there are intentions to raise the cap in the future but im satisfied with the number now.

I imagine they will. 413 is higher than the cap on PC following CL’s release, so that will allow them to release the remaining 3 EP’s and it will probably be raised again before the 5th EP is ported over to console (at which point PC will likely see a jump too)

I thought the caps were raised because of an EP and since the console version only has City Living that seems about right to have the cap there.

Barrie Tingle, a producer at Maxis, says that eventually we will get an update for console to match PC.
