Direct Control Mode CONSOLE VERSION

This discussion is mainly for the console players so please don't be that type that says "we are on computer there would be no use or point for that"

This has been requested by alot of people so I am hoping to make a new thread to bump the topic so the devs can hopefully see this and say "this is in high demand lets try it". I remember on the sims 2 for the original Xbox and ps2 and handheld systems that had BOTH direct control mode AND cursor mode. Cursor mode is self explanatory since we have it right now for the sims 4 and all computer players are used to cursor mode, but direct control mode allowed the input of the left joystick that would walk/move our sims around and using the A/X Button to interact with objects and sims. This allowed for tons of immersion options and gameplay. We lost direct gameplay when the sims 3 came out and the sims didn't feel the same without it. Then the sims 4 came out and now we have first person mode. First person mode was more of a test and an unintended feature so because of that, not much work was put into the new feature. It was then highly requested and released on every version of the sims 4. It's a great feature but here's the problem with it. The left joystick changes the field of view of the camera. I have a worn out stick so because of my stick's deadzone the FOV changes automatically. Then to move around we have to turn our sim's head on a 360 degree all the time and click every inch of the floor to move around and to walk through door ways we have to click the B/O Button and click "move here" to make our sims walk through doors. These options seem pointless and useless on console. The entire "direct control" mode is basically already there so they should instead make change the left joystick input to move our sim and walk our sim instead of change the field of view and make the A button interact with items and sims like it does already. Then it would be 100% spot on.

Anyone else want this on console versions?? I have been asking for this to come back for years but i need everyone else's help to get it more noticed.
  • In all honesty, I'm completely baffled as to why direct control was not implemented on day one of the console versions. It would make things so much smoother in terms of actual live mode gameplay. It should be a requirement for console editions of the game. The way first person mode works right now is so much more clunky in comparison to it, which is a shame.
  • I don't play the console version but I did play ts2 on ps2 and direct control was always more fun to play with that type of controller. I definitely think it should be added as an option, similar to how 2 did it (so you could use either one). It definitely feels to me like you can obviously tell the console market is an afterthought, adapting control schemes is one of the simplest improvements when porting games that makes it feel not clunky
  • I think with first person how it is now if they made it so the left stick would make our sim walk and run i stead of changing the FOV then it would be spot on. If they made it so our heads don't rotate on a 360 degree axis like we are possesed in an exorcism or something then it would be 100% enjoyable but right now in first person mode you can see through your body, it spins 360 degrees and the left stick changes field of view which is dumb. Having to press A on every inch of the floor to walk around and having to press the B button on a door to walk through it is unbearable and unplayable. I really hope Maxis and EA see this is say "hey we need to fix this". The direct control mode is basically there with first person mode. Just change 1 button input. How hard is that??
  • I know this comment is way late but man, I wish they would implement direct control more than anything. I mean there's a mod for pc out already and people clearly use it and enjoy the feature. Why not implement it for console users? I've heard so many people talk about how much they enjoyed the sims 2 on ps2 because of the direct control specifically. I think it would be a game changer and take me from more casual play to being totally addicted to the sims again. It's never going to be the same as pc, but if direct control was implemented I honestly wouldn't mind dishing out more money on expansions for console even though I plan on someday having a pc that can run the game.
  • Even I want a direct control for the Sims 4 PC, it was awesome controlling the Sims directly on TS2 and TS2 pets for PS2.
  • So today I saw this game on game pass so I got it, I've played various other Sims games and I like them but what the hell is this whole camera thing It's annoying to keep moving the character didn't wait for them to move why is there third person in previous games but they didn't implement that into this game Like they're just lazy Maybe for the same reason Apex still doesn't have better service or still has an update the game to it actually doesn't kick you out of the game just been over a month and still don't fix yet So you know what I'm not surprised EA always does stupid things The whole customization everything is complicated I only had to look things up to see how I do it I cannot build a house like this game is the most clunkiest game I've ever played I literally turn this game off it's like yeah I'm not playing this and it's uninstalled now and it will not be installed unless there's a third person camera angle This is not a turn-based game we should have to click wherever we want to go, this game is ridiculous, I'll stick to playin Urbz on my DS, nice going again EA
