You can freeze pregnancy with MCCC. That part isn't frozen while other houses are played so your sim can end up with a randomly named baby, and you'll miss out on any story you were planning for the mum (or dad, for the alien curious sims). I currently have three pregnant sims (Brandi Broke, Claire Ursine and Pascal Curious) and all them are frozen with no issue.
