How far apart do you imagine each world within Sims 4 to be from each other?

First of all, I know Sims 4 is just a game and the location of each world doesn't actually matter, but I think it's interesting to at least think about...

Personally, I like to view Willow Creek and Magnolia Promenade as part of the same world (since Magnolia Promenade looks very similar to the area across from the neighborhood with the steamboat). So I consider them to be within minutes from each other. And then I also imagine Newcrest being the next town over (which would probably be like 15-30 mins away). And I like to think the city that can be seen from the distance in certain areas of Newcrest is actually San Myshuno, which basically acts as the "central" area of the overall game. As for Brindleton, I imagine it being either the next town over from Newcrest OR simply the next town over from Willow Creek in the opposite direction of Newcrest. And I kinda like to think that Granite Falls is an area found up the mountains from Brindleton Bay.

Also, considering the obvious difference of climate found in Oasis Springs, along with the completely different theme of Windenburg (compared to other worlds), I imagine these two being the furthest areas away from everywhere else... and Selvadorada's obviously a completely different area of the Sims world... given the overall rain forest theme, it's probably much further away than Oasis Springs or Windenburg.

And I haven't put much thought into Forgotten Hollow, so I really don't know where I'd put it on a map... lol

Overall, I don't really imagine most of the worlds in Sims 4 being too far away from each other. I could imagine Sims taking somewhere between 15 mins to possibly an hour to actually visit another "world"... so they're basically more like cities or towns that make up an entire world.

That's my perspective... what do you all think?

I roleplay Willow Creek and Newcrest as being suburbs of San Myshuno (and Windenburg is the "historic district", while Magnolia Promenade is sort of between Newcrest and downtown San Myshuno). Brindleton Bay and Forgotten Hollow are small towns upstate, close to Granite Falls, but only a few hours drive from Willow Creek.

Yes, I pretty much imagine it the same way. Or, I did before Seasons came out. They often have wildly different weather so it is hard to imagine such dramatic swings in weather/temperature within the same county.

  • I think of it as zones in an MMO or biomes in Minecraft. You can walk a few minutes in any direction and end up crossing a border into a new zone with drastically different climate and geography.

That way it explains how you can travel to every world and back again in 1 day.

It helps my mind make sense of something like waking up in Arizona , grabbing lunch in New York, taking my pet to the vet in Maine, and going to a club in London all in one day like it’s no big deal.
  • I refer to the real world map and place the sims worlds wherever they fit best. Selvadorada may be Central or South America in my head, Windenberg in Europe, the base worlds in North America, etc.
I like to think sims travel Star Trek style by using a transporter. I've been out of the game for a couple of weeks now because of my broken laptop. Once I have my desktop up and running, maybe I'll create little transporter pads in some of the community lots. I've taken breaks from sims before, but haven't yet experienced not being able to play when I do want to play....... It's a very frustrating experience.
  • Not far enough with seasons for me, it seems. I can't wrap my head around opening the map and travelling instantly (from the sim's point of view, anyway) from say, Willow Creek where it's snowing, to Oasis Springs where it's sunny and warm. Not saying they should have made the weather the same everywhere (that would be dumb). But I'm too used to popping over to a nightclub for the evening here or a day in the park here for it to feel like there's any more distance than an adjoining suburb. Which in my current gameplay has made me put ALL my sims and lots I visit in Willow Creek (my world of choice, because it has changing weather and doesn't have some of the problems that Brindleton has).
  • I noticed the other day that the buildings in the background of Oasis Springs are the same buildings in the background of Newcrest. (I was somewhere in the Bedrock Strait neighborhood when I saw this.) Before that, I always thought of Newcrest as a suburb of San Myshuno, too.
  • I picture them all being in different parts of North America.

Willow Creek - A old town full of Victorian houses.
Oasis Springs - A dessert town - maybe somewhere in Arizona.
Windenburg - A small European styled town in a mountainous region.
Newcrest - A suburb that could really be located anywhere.
Magnolia Promenade - I picture this as a retail space - not really a neighborhood.
Brindleton Bay - A suburb in a small town in the North.

I don't ever play the downtown neighborhood.
