How are your famous sims doing? I wanna share how I organize my Actors, Writers and Musicians. This involves the Get Famous EP, but is not limited to. As usual, 50% of my game is pure imagination :) ...
While Plumbob Pictures might be the huge thing, the great producer for the silver screen, and the dream of any actor out there - I also have another production company, Simmerville Studio. They produce for TV, which works slightly different than the Acting and PP gigs etc. I need to pretend there are plenty of TV content produced, but occasionally I actuallly create the TV-series, news, talk show and reality show. Most of this content can be found on my Youtube chanel, but now there is also a full catalog with links for streaming, on the new web page.
Simmerville Studios is located in my Gloomville (your Willow Creek):
With my new scripted system, details on a lead role or a supporting role will also be listed on that sim's bio page, as a life line event, and on their profile with the talent agency where they are currently signed (coming soon). And, news from all showbiz companies will be found in my online newspaper Mazaloom Times. Btw, this also includes the Royal Palace Office and Church of Similius, which are not really showbiz, but pretty close :).
During the process of redefining my showbiz routines, I got aware that most of my sims with lots of experience from TV-productions, actually lack most skills that would give their "contribution score" for rating the productions they contribute to. I mean, the News Anchor since 10-ish years hardly knows there exist skills like charisma, acting, and research & debate. A certain CEO who is hosting a rather successful talkshow scores extremely low on skills, too. This is because I create those videos "on the side", besides nothing they do during the recording would build their related skills anyway. Topping this, the popular host has zero fame, neither has that news anchor... They should of course be recognized on the street. Because TV-productions fight for a good rank, just like motion pictures, this will need to be dealt with. It forces me to play the actors and TV-faces more often.
Because the game has no such Top 10 Film & TV-productions, I programmed my own to be updated annually:)
Another detail I got aware of, and which actually makes perfect sense, is that talk shows now get reviews based on their guests. Having Judith Ward guesting the show brought up the ranking for that episode, while a show with mostly "normal residents" would get terrible reviews. So - in the future I guess I'll need to pay more attention when casting those guests. A mix is probably the best, as always :)
This probably sounds too detailed and tedious, but it's how I play my game. When routines are good, the extra work load normally gets small.
Well, now that Simmerville Studio is online (page released today), it is possible to read a bit about both the big production companies. There exist one more smaller company focusing mostly on commercials, and another producing concerts etc, but their webpages will need to wait. Because, in a few days the webpages of 4 talent agencies will have my attention.
