Buying new packs of any kind has become risky. And has been the case for a couple of years. I am not pleased with this pack, but I can see why it appeals to the players who like to build rather than play in live mode. I enjoy building, but this pack won't somehow turn me into a builder-only player. The same can be said about players who spend hours creating lovely builds but seldom play in live mode. There doesn't seem to be much in the pack that appeals to everyone equally. You either love it or you dislike it. That's the problem with packs created for a niche market. I was excited about the smaller packs in the beginning, but some of the themes have gotten repetitious as BB and CAS assets seem to be the bulk of the content in the newest ones. The different packs and what they offer, used to be a lot different than what we have seen lately. Stuff packs meant new stuff. Game packs used to mean new game play. And EP's used to add all of that to the game in one big package. But I feel we got two stuff packs rather than a stuff pack and a game pack. The best part of DHD is the update we got that brought us likes/dislikes. Sadly, the pre-pack updates have been adding more to the game than the packs themselves.
The main reason so many players use CC and mods is the fact Sims4 has not progressed as quickly as past iterations, has been plagued by bugs and glitches that take weeks or months before being fixed, plus we wanted more meaningful game play. If the teams had brought better content to us in a more timely manner, there would be less need for CC and mods. But I wanted bunkbeds, better hairstyles, modular furniture, more skin tone options, and better CAS clothing sooner, rather than later or not at all. And after waiting four years for the game to come close to what I wanted it to be, I grew tired of the excuses and took control by finding and using CC and mods that would give me the same experiences I had enjoyed in Sims2 and 3. I love Sims4. But it's probably a lot different from anyone else's because I have added things I felt were missing. I don't enjoy updating my mods or worrying about CC being affected by updates. But even all that is better than trying to play with broken or missing features then waiting for the teams to resolve the issues.
