How long does a childhood/teen phase last?

I'm not real sure since I have several game saves and I go back and forth often especially when frustrated or bored. LOL I've heard that if your "caregiver" sim talks to them about their phase that the phase will be shorter. I currently have one who is in the loud phase and she turned up the radio full blast which made her sister's boyfriend very angry. (In that game, a teen and her child sister lost their mom and the teen had to quit school and raise her sister -- inspired by a YouTube LP. That teen is now an adult with a live in bf and twins of her own.)

Seems like 3-4 days, though. I'm not sure; I aged up my sims before the phase completed, though.

I think it depends. One of my kids has had Picky Eater for over a week, and another had I'm a Bear for only one day.

There are things you can do to reduce the time.

My sim has been in a mean streak forever and I don't like because her character really isn't that mean and it's lasted forever.

I have had a bear for three days now. Only annoying because I would like to see her wear something other than a bear suit and she looks so clumsy but cute.

Not always. When the parents asked about the Mean Streak and Clingy phases the kids were in, the responses they got pretty much indicated you just have to wait them out. I did discipline the kid who was in the Mean Streak phase every time she was mean to her siblings (at least when I caught it) and it might have helped reduce the time the phase lasted. I think it was over in 2, maybe 3 days. The Clingy phase you can do nothing with, however. Just wait for it to be over as far as I know.

Well, it seems like discipline for mean behavior during a mean streak takes 0.75 days off the clock. But then, it doesn't work all the time (not to mention the clock is hidden, so there's no real confirmation). I once figured that "hey, all I have to do then is to just have her be mean and punish her over and over again". Well, that didn't work out. Maybe the trait buff got removed but the trait didn't, otherwise it did nothing beyond the first time.

...The trait is only supposed to last 3 days. If you've had yours for over 2 weeks, it's probably because the buff's 'loot_on_remove' failed. Meaning it won't go away on its own, and you should just remove it with cheats.

Hm, I'll see if not talking to them about the phase makes it shorter. So far I've done that almost every time and I think the phases have lasted for two to three days. I'm not entirely sure either, which is why I asked. It seems no one really knows though. Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. :)
