8 generations and that was enough for me. My file was so large and it took so long to load that I gave up. Admittedly I had huge double basements crammed full of items!!
I'm on my 8th generation with another family right now and this time I haven't been a hoarder so the file loading times are way quicker. So I'll see how far I get with this one. I am a bit bored right now though so a new game pack etc would be welcome.
