- KerrybubblesSeasoned RookieJust their clothing. I like to keep the way they look because that is what the genetics meant for them to look like.
- Hairstyles, clothing, and eyebrows are all fair game for me. When it comes to features I only change them if they're wildly disproportional or the sim is cursed with that no chin glitch or my dudes have that pear shaped body thing.
- simsimsereRising ScoutUsually just hair, eyebrows and clothes. But some genetics have gone wonky in my game and I had a sim with very small eyes for example. So I made those a little bit bigger, but still on the smallish side because I considered it part of her.
- BabykittyjadeRising ObserverAs someone not too worried about genetics I will edit them into a whole new sim??? and if I still can't get the look I want I delete ?.
I rarely have a born in game sim though. 90% of my sims come from playing with genetics in CAS. - Mostly I regard the genetics of sim something I do not want to touch when editing them like it kind if defeats the point of making in game nooboos instead of just creating sims from scratch
I usually try to just make them look nice with cards they were dealt
but I might edit the body just a little if theres something that bothers me like obvious lack of organs and bones
anyway other than genetics its all changed immediately upon age up because the sim fashion burns my eyes - wildirishbansheeRising NoviceI don't usually mess with genetics, but hairstyle, clothing, etc is all fair game - though sometimes I even leave that, if it's not a dumpster fire.
- I don't technically edit them, what I do instead is use Play with Genetics in CAS, set the new sim to "teenager" and randomize until I get a version that I like (usually the one that looks the most like the parents' average). Then I make the new sim a toddler and take them into the game.
I only go through pregnancy if I want to get surprised what occult state gets passed down or with aliens (because I have set MCCC to custom rules for hybrids and full aliens) or when I'm in a challenge save. - LarrikatevenSeasoned RookieI change hair, makeup, and clothes quite a bit, since I consider those to be easy things that people change all the time in real life. Genetics are important to me, so I leave that alone unless something is wildly off.
- amapola76Seasoned HotshotSo far, I don't think I've changed genetics at all, although to be fair I've only had a few born in-game. But I'm totally comfortable with the general idea of changing them slightly if something seems wildly off. Otherwise, I'll probably mostly leave them alone. (My neighborhoods are about to go through a baby boom when we get GT.)
Clothing and hairstyles get a complete overhaul, though. That being said, sometimes I take the clothes they start with as a hint about what their favorite color is, and I try to go with that theme for their new clothes. (Unless it's wildly unflattering: no mustard yellow for my sims, no matter how trendy it is.) Or if they have curly hair, I might leave it curly, but change to a different curly style. Basically, I try to leave in some sort of nod to the original style, even if I take it in a different direction.
Once we have quirks available, I figure I will deal with those in a similar way: remove any that seem wildly out of character (or any that end up being extremely overpowering), or add one if it fits some particular story I want to tell within that family, but otherwise leave them alone. - Daephene1New SpectatorRarely. I did have one sim who aged up with no lips (I put lipstick on to be sure and there was just a thin red line), so I edited her mouth. I edit some of the young premades if they age up weird but otherwise the only things I change are style choices for hair, clothes, eyebrows, accessories, tattoos, etc.
