How often do you live in an apartment?

For those of you who have city living, how often do you find yourself moving a new save into an apartment? I personally always place my new families in an actual house. I have had city living since it came out, and only once have I actually placed a new sim into an apartment, and she was a single sim and I only did it because I had just gotten CL. I find that I prefer having families living in a house so they can have a backyard, a pool, a jungle gym for the kids, and I find it a better experience for seasons because you can have decorations on the outside of your house, and rake leaves in the fall, play in the mud, have snowball fights in the winter. Currently I have just moved a single mom and her teen daughter into an apartment, but that was only after living in a bungalow while the daughter was a toddler, and a kid. So, how often do you really live in San Myshuno?

  • I used to start with an apartment all the time, and some times I even had my sims move back to an apartment. I enjoyed having neighbors (although it was annoying when they kept my sim from sleeping with loud parties, fighting or WooHoo), and it was good to know exactly how much they had to pay every month. However, I eventually changed my mind since the so called ultra speed didn't make much difference since there's so much going on outside, and if there was a festival going on until 3 or whatever, it would take time until it switched to actual ultra speed when they went to bed. I always have them live in houses now, since it goes a little bit faster, I just have to avoid having too much fancy and expensive stuff so the bills won't get too crazy (still makes no sense to me, but it is what it is).

I use apartments all the time, I have remodeled most of them and added bedrooms to many to make them family friendly.
  • If the family has a toddler or toddlers then I move them into an apartment because it's hard for toddlers to use the stairs in a house.
  • I hate flats and buildings but I got some of my sims who live in town.
  • I LOVE apartments. I live in LA so I really am in love with the CL aesthetic.

My only down-side is I don't like that you can't get rid of mice and cockroaches in certain apartments (i tried all the hacks. EA has prevented them from working any longer). You can live in a cheap apartment and not get cockroaches, you know!

I use them a lot. I often start my YA Sims off there, and have them save up to buy a house. Now that University is out, they go from their parents house > dorm > apartment, then buy a house once they are ready for their own family.

I actually really love the apartments. I originally fell in love with it while playing Sims City on console. I use them rather frequently, especially for Sims just starting out, trying to make it big, or those I feel would prefer city life to the suburbs.

This sums it up perfectly for me, lol. <3
  • I frequently use apartments because San Myshuno is one of my top three worlds. I usually start my young adult sims there, then sometimes move them to a more suburban world in their middle age.
  • I love apartments but no good b lister celeb with bunch nosey at door disturb her romance with her boyfriend. so thinking of moving her nice house so she private life without lurkers watching or pic of her. san myshuno is a great city but not a good idea for celeb in making haha.
