How to create an apartment lot.

So I'm building an apartment complex~ it's actually pretty cute so far, and I was super excited about it... but I don't seem to have the option to change the lot type to Apartment in build/buy mode.

1) Is this not a thing in Sims 4, or am I just looking in the wrong place?

2) if my suspicion is correct and this is yet another feature that's been removed, is there a mod that will let me change the lot type to Apartment?

    No, I'm afraid it's not a thing :'( I'm sorry! I've built lots of apartment complexes but I just use them for my random townies and not to play in. You can use them by having roommates and then locking the doors, if you wanted a work around - I do this for my student accommodation sometimes.

    I'm afraid I dont know of any mods. I'd love it if there were some though so hopefully someone can help us both with that ;)

    That's a good workaround, so will do that in the meantime.

    I hope there's a mod for this. I'll report back if I find anything. :)

    Building your own apartment is not a thing in TS4. However there are a couple of things you could do:
    1) You could move sims in and use door locking system to set who lives where
    2) With Discover University you could have roommates move in the parts of the apartment that are not in your sim's use
